Cynics' guide to race threads

In light of seeing the same tired circular arguments on those inevitable threads that don't seem to accomplish anything. I felt that a spot-the-bullshit guide will help save everyone some time:

    1. Don't engage the angry black man - unless you're one of the race thread regulars who benefit from the status quo, thereby wanting to divert attention away from real issues and towards those who make minorities look bad.

    2. Stop calling it racism - you unnecessarily alienate everyone by demonizing something that isn't bad in itself (preferences)... afterall, studies show that all babies show preferences for their own mother's race within weeks of birth. Preferences hurt no one in the absence of a perceived hierarchy. The issue is knowing that social conditioning and media biases have caused gays of all races to disproportionately prefer white...

    3. ...just "disproportionately"; not "all", not even "most". Let's not let semantics and "not all" statements do exactly what such posters intend for them to do, that is to confuse the reality of the situation.

    4. "My preferences are natural, I just don't have anything in common with my race" - non-white poster just wants to stress the second part to market himself as qualifiedly non-ethnic to white men

    5. "I've dated plenty of white guys and have never noticed racial hierarchy" - see #4

    6. "That's ageist!" - old white men reacting to any reference to the young-ethnic/old-white dating phenomenon that demonstrates the deflated market value of minorities. Sorry, but it is what it is. Minorities who are part of the phenomenon will also get defensive, obviously.

    7. "There's no racial hierarchy because I love [insert race]" See #3. Also see if poster fits phenomenon described in #6.

    That's all for now icon_lol.gif

Nice. This should be a sticky at the top of each race thread. I know exactly which posters are guilty of each of the bullshit items lol

This is so true, but I know a few forumers who would squirm and react negatively to this icon_lol.gif

I guess it doesn't affect me because I'm not hunting for young meat.

Wow, gotta read that over....it demonstrates the deflated market value of minorities.

I don't think I've read anything MORE racist (other than the KKK et al)

So they are reduced to a market consideration? As in slavery? How much is he worth in dollars and cents? Is an educated black man a liability? They could cause you problems mastr!

It's also dismissive. That anyone who disagrees with your prejudice is inherently wrong. While as a 19 year old in Anaheim CA that may be true for you. But I'm sorry for you already. If your icon had audio it should be a flushing sound.

A non-white guy talking about non-whites being under-valued is hardly racist. You're just worried that they might become self-aware and lose interest in elder gays like you lolol, mr obvious

    +1 mr. obvious is obvious

    Do name names icon_lol.gif

Actually don't. I have been here just long enough to know that if you make it personal, people get stupid, logic goes out the window, and you can forget talking about real issues.

The first one on the list, "don't engage the angry black man," seems like an abhorrent thing to say, especially given the content on RJ. Every day many of the most prolific posters make the most incendiary comments towards black people imaginable. Who wouldn't get angry after reading the horrible things people say frequently here? It's not like racism would go away if racists were never confronted. It's like you want the racists to just walk all over their chosen targets.icon_confused.gif

And number 2 on the list is just a justification for the type of racism that causes the most animosity of all. I actually think we'd be better off ignoring those who promote their interest in race fetishes. It's like that creeper who goes around and says he only likes Asian guys. It just seems like a fetish when it's about another race, and racism when it's about your own race. If you can't see beyond stereotypes then you're almost too ignorant to be taken seriously as a commentator.

I'd take an angry post over an "it's just preference" post any day.icon_idea.gif

I think OP originally said "don't engage Pazzy", but the point is clear; that man has issues besides being black, so uh not a face you want to be arguing for your cause. That's why Radd and his gang love bullying him because they know his reactions will discredit black people more than any of Chulo's racist threads.

Is that what this is about? Because everyone has issues and we all represent
    gay.

Some of my favorite posters have been TroyAthlete, Pazzy, CopperDevil, because I would rather see people stand up for themselves.

It's just weird that Pazzy should be ignored but not Chulo or Radd, both of whom endlessly antagonized him.

Is it not obvious how fucked up this is?icon_confused.gif

    No it's not.

There is a reason why Spazzy was the most loathed member of this site and why I'm one of the most beloved.
I stand for truth, love, and the American way.

Spazzy represents hate, anger, and fear!!!

That's interesting. I had actually put chulo on ignore a long time ago. Then I put radd and undercoverman on ignore. I can honestly say, RJ has been more enjoyable since I did that.

Of course it's more enjoyable when everyone thinks as you do and no one challenges you or makes you see a different POV. Why bother to engage anyone? Why bother being in the forums?

TMac didn't say he put you on ignore because you didn't think as he does. Have you considered that maybe you're "playing the victim role so that you really don't have to take responsibility for your own shortcomings?" Shortcomings that have potentially caused several to ignore your posts on here? Just a thought.
