    Apparently, 86 Is Enough:

As a kid I had a major crush on his '70s-perfect son Vincent Van Patten:

    Who, incidentally, is still hot:

Speaking of "Eight Is Enough," I hated any kid actor with a bowl cut - particularly Adam Rich from that show:

who I thought grew up hot because I mistook him for Christian Kane, Zach Braff's love interest "Mr. Idaho" in "The Broken Hearts Club" and the hot "muscle" on "Leverage:"

I'll miss Dick Van Patten. I have some fond memories of 'Eight is Enough'. He seemed to be in real life a caring, considerate Dad, similar to the character he played. He had a long, full life, a successful career, and raised a close, loving family. He's certainly left behind some happy memories.

It's true that his son Vince was an 80s wet dream. His movies, TV appearances, even his tennis career weren't very memorable artistically, but for those of us of a certain age, he was a treat to watch on TV or video. I think maybe "Hell Night" still turns up sometimes. Vince now does some god-awful poker commentating for one of the televised poker shows, but I guess he does what he has to do, to pay the bills. As do we all.
