Keaton Farris had no prior criminal record but had struggled with a history of mental illness.

I have friends who lost a child in a police facility similarly. The kid (really an adult child of my friends) was in a halfway house--he suffered various mental issues--but a supervisor there didn't like him, blamed trouble on him and had the cops take him away. That turned into so much red tape that my friends couldn't get their son out of the hands of the police and he wound up dead of them over-medicating him. The cops killed their kid.

Very bright people, to know them you would not think this possible. But it happened. The mother handles it pretty well--at least on the outside--a real strong lady. But the father lives every day as a nightmare, unbelieving that this is now his life. He describes it as living in a bad movie that he can't escape from.
