Kindness

I've been on the forums for less than 24 hrs, but I want to start a "kindness" thread. Because some of what I've seen and read in a very short time has sort of jarred my mind with this theme of "hurt people hurting people" here.

I want this thread to be an exercise in sharing your own kindness with the rest of us. icon_smile.gif

There is a quote from Lao Tzu that comes to mind for me here:

"Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates Love."

So this is me, carving a small space in this forum space to remind you all that we are all more than our pasts--our battles--or any other fight you've felt you need to fight to just be who you are.

Try it on. You may like what shows up in you as a result. ;)

Kindness seldom makes news headlines. icon_twisted.gif

In other news, those of us who honestly attempt to be kind tend to be overlooked due to the unkindness that overtakes the forums sometimes (err, most times).

It's like trying to find a monogamous boyfriend in a bathhouse. Sure it's possible, but you have to search diligently for a really long time in several bathhouses before it happens. You'll probably be retired by the time you find one. icon_lol.gif

And by the time you find him you have been turned into an incorrigible sauna whore who can't stop going back to the sauna for another chance to play with that 6"1 straight curious university football jock who can be found there most Thursday afternoons between 1:30 and 4pm looking to get sucked off in the steam room.icon_cool.gificon_lol.gif
Holy fuck dude, I thought I had a fairly decent grasp of the English language, but actually had to look up the definition of "incorrigible." icon_lol.gif

Oh and it sounds like your post was written from experience. Might I be right? icon_wink.gif

Not new here, just returning. icon_smile.gif

"I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept."

Now, I never expected this to be a "kumbayah" moment.

I just wanted to remind folks of their own light.

Some people are more sensitive or passionate on these forums than others. I think it's an internet thing. Everyone wants to speak their mind lol. If you want to be kind then just be kind. It shouldn't matter how other people behave. You will more than likely attract like minded people.

I hear you. I completely understand and agree with most of your perspective.
This isn't about being distraught with how others are behaving--people are going to be who they choose to be. No convincing is necessary for me. ;)

What this is about is offering an alternative to the staple exchanges, I see in excess--or in large supply within the forums.

While it might seem superfluous and inconsequential--at some point we have to examine our own accountability for who we are and how that impacts everything around us. These "raindrops" can and often do turn into a down pour.

I'm a "big picture" kind of guy, so when I'm present to something that I see as toxic or hurtful -- my gut reaction is to offer a solution to subside or negate the thing that has some folks forgetting the better parts of who they are or can be.

I'm not out to save the world here.
I just want to respectfully offer reminders that we all have a choice in how we are with those around us. What can or cannot occur, ultimately boils down to Us.

Internet, Real-life, whatever--the ability to recognize that were more than the minutia of snarky, sarcastic and caustic commentary that seems to permeate these boards...and our communities.

I still choose kindness, and support and encouragement as an alternative to tearing folks down, when there are enough forces already at play who try to do this to us on a daily basis.

Why entertain more pain, when we can choose otherwise?

So very well put. Kind people seem to come and go fairly quickly here, but the time they do spend here make all the difference.

Thanks for taking the time to share some positive energy. icon_wink.gif

I have, and they were good!

It was by accident, but a Chinese restaurant I used to frequent (in a small town - most popular restaurant there) got busted for cat and dog carcasses in the dumpster. So I can say with certainty that cats and dogs taste good, though I wouldn't eat them on purpose. icon_lol.gif
