Our Pride Center in Wilton Manors (largest in the US) has put together an impromptu rally at the US Federal Courthouse in downtown Fort Lauderdale at 4PM today (Fri). The President/CEO emailed us the details. We had just been downtown on other business, so we decided to not go again, but rather go early to the Wilton Manors location of the after party, where we are now.

Various TV stations are already here with their microwave dish trucks, I can see CBS on one of them. Should be exciting. Don't know if there'll be national feeds, but maybe you'll get to see us in the US. icon_biggrin.gif

I honestly did not think this would happen in my lifetime. Now my partner & I are starting to make plans for a wedding. I already call him my husband, but this will make it legal.

OK, the HRC photographer just snapped me holding their HRC banner outside, along with 3 lesbians also holding it. I'm all decked out in HRC gear, since I'm a member. My husband is wearing an Equality Florida shirt, to which we also belong. And now we were just all given small HRC hand flags to wave.

This is getting so exciting! And how quickly it was all organized and put together. I've contributed thousands over the years to see this day, never thought I would. I wasn't a direct part of the legal battle, but I think my husband & I helped at least a little bit. WOW!

no offense but shouldn't you be busy celebrating or enjoying the festivities instead of giving us play by play commentary of something we can't see. go and have fun, breh. don't worry about us. it sounds more like you're bragging at this point.

I'm at my iPad between breaks. Sorta like Tweeting I suppose.

And BTW, the newspaper just took my pic with the Mayor of Wilton Mayors. While cars are driving by honking their horns, waving rainbow flags.

It really is that exciting here, Like after the Super Bowl or something, I've never seen anything like it here.

Thanks for sharing, Art! Work has been miserable the last few weeks -- I hope to steal a few hours this weekend for SF Pride if I'm lucky -- but I had to check RJ for a chance to celebrate by proxy, if only momentarily. Glad somebody could do so in person.

Thanks! Even as southbeach1500 trashes what I wrote above, in praise of this decision.

Well, we know how HE feels about gay rights.

But I'm listening to the entire Wilton Manors City Commission hailing this US Supreme Court decision. And making a unanimous declaration in support of the Supreme Court decision. Today is "Marriage Equality Day" in Wilton Manors.

I really do love living here, even if southbeach1500 trashes it as a "gay ghetto".

The more what you do bothers and/or threatens the opponents of gay rights, the more you know you must be doing something right.

But then, you've been on RJ longer than I have. I hardly have to tell you that. icon_wink.gif

True, I hope I expose the gay haters here.

But on a happier note, we're home now. The party continues, but we don't stay out very late. I gotta say again, I've never seen such celebrations in our little town. WOW!

The cars riding up and down honking their horns, and flying gay and HRC flags, is something I've never seen before. Everyone is just hugging each other, guys & gals, tears in their eyes. If you don't yourself live in such a largely gay community as we do, maybe you can enjoy it vicariously with us.

And I'm so happy for older guys, many in their 80s (including my husband). And they're all saying the same thing: "I never thought I'd live to see this." Also with tears in their eyes.

They saw the bad days, which I never did. And now they've lived to see this. WOW, just WOW!

You are so mysterious SB1500. Why don't you tell us about your views on being Gay? You seem to derive the most satisfaction by being condescending to Art and your use of pics of that old bitch from a British sitcom. We know nothing of you, but you seem to take pleasure in judging others. Tell us more about SB1500. I think we all know you won't.

Don't waste your energy on a gay hater like southbeach1500. I no longer do.

On a happier note, I'm getting all kinds of wonderful emails and texts from friends about this incredible court decision. But I do have one bitch.

I went to pick up my husband from his pedicure at 10:30 AM. As he got in the car I told him I have great news, which I had just read online before I left our house.

He said: "I think I know what it is". So I tell him, and he says: "Carol S**** just phoned me". [From Tampa]

Well, WTF! Can't I tell my own husband? Why do YOU have to call my husband from Tampa to break the news? Bitch, can't I do it myself? She didn't think we could do it ourselves?

So I was kinda ticked, she spoiled it for me. But OK, I took my husband to the big party, and we cried & hugged, and all is wonderful.

You do not have a "husband" - unless you actually get married to him. Any questions?

    Actually, yes.

First, I do have a husband, and he has me as a husband, because we have made it so, before it became legal. The power of love, and our own decision. That we hope to now formalize in the new law permitted by the US Supreme Court decision.

Second, among my questions for you, since you asked me, are these:

    - Are you gay?
    - Do you have a BF/partner/husband?
    - Where do you really live?
    - Are you sponsored here by anyone, any agency, business or other entity?

The Sun Sentinel. Along with the gays rags. The Miami Herald is very conservative - gays don't exist in their world.

But I doubt my pics will be published. I always take a very bad photo, that nobody wants to use. And I'm known for avoiding the camera. Yesterday was a giddy exception for me, I was so happy. icon_biggrin.gif

And you're not gay, with no business being on this site. So take your Koch Brothers money with you and try another gay site to haunt. Any questions? icon_biggrin.gif

Let me guess... your rally was to protest all the fat people using electric carts while they shop....

What a self blind narcissistic fat ass you are... and you keep on going out of your way to make sure we don't forget it, too.
