Okay, here's one of her latest performances, it's on the X Factor and it's... horrible. Is it just me or has she damaged her voice so badly, she can't sing her own songs anymore?

Don't get me wrong, I like her music, but this is just not okay.

Contracts with satan only last 15 years. She signed in 1993 and it expired just last year.

I signed one with him for being extremely clever back when i was 9 years old and my contract ended just last summer. This explains my how terribly witless this post is.

I never got the Mariah schtick. Balladzzzz.

Also, even though she's something of an entertaining nut job, she's not a proper nutjob like Britney.

Yeah, I have been saying her vocals are gone for quite some time. She lip-sync's a lot more. Even to slow songs which is just ridiculous. I feel bad for her...she used to be able to sing so well.

the girl has used her voice quite a bit. when rested and with no alcohol she still can sing.

I'm currently at work and youtube is blocked, but you need to go watch 2 things.

1 - Her 2006 Grammy Performance of We Belong Together and Fly Like A Bird -- 100% live and amazing.

2 - During a tribute to Patti Labelle she sang If Only You Knew/Over The Rainbow - Her vocals are insane!

It is cruel to get my hopes up! Seriously though I wish she had taken up opera like her mother.

I totally agree with you, especially about the Grammy performance of We belong together& Fly like a bird.
However, even then one could notice that she's under a lot of pressure on stage and her voice doesn't come out as easily, as it used to.
My theory is that she hasn't been singing correctly over the years and that's the reason for losing her vocal abilities... it's sad, she really was something.

I hope so! That'd be one less wailing banshee we'd have to put up with. Now, if only the same thing would happen to Celine Dion.

Tapper, I give you a 10 even if you're unverified, just for that statement alone. icon_lol.gif

Some of her older live performances were absolutely incredible (the MTV Unplugged was my fav), however, the last time I really heard her sing well live was the duet with Whitney way back when..she still sounded pretty good but I haven't heard her sing really well in years. The We Belong Together performance you are all raving about was ok, but keep in mind she hits like two big notes in the whole song, not the ENTIRE song like she used to. Yes, she damaged her voice from all the power vocals earlier on. Let's just remember how great she WAS icon_neutral.gif

Come on guys, don't be so cruel icon_lol.gif Celine and Mariah have done amazing things for the music industry... they deserve some respect icon_smile.gif
Of course Mariah can sometimes be quite... stupid. And her songs tend to be all the same but there are some hits like Hero or her version of Without you, which will never go away, despite the fact that her voice has.

she probably couldnt hear herself on the stage. If you cant hear yourself you can't sing and in those live performance a lot of the time you can't. like SNL is known for a stage where you can't hear yourself.

Cookie cutter pop garbage has always been profitable. I doubt that will change anytime soon.

I'm still waiting on the director's cut of Malika Cunty's Butterfly video, when the horse mounts her skanky ass and drives it home.

Yeah, you've got a point but just because it's profitable doesn't mean all of it is bad.
Anyway, I don't like arguing about music... everyone has their own taste and I respect that. icon_smile.gif

If you must know, I listened to Carmina Burana at the gym this morning, but classic rock is my preferred genre (Bowie, Stones, Doors, Floyd).

I can play tennis all day. Your serve.

'Mariah is quite simply the biggest star in the Word.'

Exactly what she wants to hear. icon_razz.gif
