PRiDEJA 2015 will be held under the theme. "The Pride of a People: Breaking the Rules of Oppression".

I think this should have been better planned. International support would be a key asset to its success by inviting persons from the world wide LGBT to come in their numbers and help support the local LGBT citizens.

It would send a clear message to society. I am honestly wondering if its really safe to go. We'll see.

Agreed. God bless. And to OP, PaulDee, yes I concur that they should have invited foreign LGBT "dignitaries" (for lack of a better term) because with that comes more media, and with that comes an added political pressure to be safe from politicians since they don't want to hurt tourism, and with that comes more peace.

In short, sometimes you need the media light to keep everything PC. It's never the celebrities per se that cause the increased security, it's the politicians wanting to look good who tell the local cops, which is what keeps things safe.

    Please let this workout.

When more information becomes available, I will consider how I can contribute. Numbers is the key though along with allies.

Good for them. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I've argued with Pazzi about Jamaica in the past, the homophobia and crappy bitch Prime Minister, but I was just there last week and came away mightily impressed with the people. They are about 4 million and yet have crafted a unique culture and spread it around the Caribbean. Ya man. Very special place. I hope their anti-gay attitude changes soon and my guess is it will because the people are happy and friendly and seem ready to embrace anyone who will dance. I now just consider the backward attitude no different than the Republican Party... just ugly people looking for an enemy. Seems totally out of character for Jamaicans.

I hope that it works out well and that there is no violence. It sounds very risky.

It's not the people. It's the religion.

Their religion does not approve of killing people.

That is a lie. And if history tells us anything about the religion, you would say the same thing no matter who they are killing. By keeping religion alive you're upholding the delusional beliefs of people who murdered Jews to stop the plague. Its unthinkable that logic can be trumped by nonsensical delusions from the dark ages. You're giving power to a dragon and denying truth to the millions who have been murdered in the name of magic pie in the sky.

If Jesus was real, he would've intervened when these murders took place. But Jesus doesn't help those who help themselves, because he's not real. He's just a symbol of religious imperialism and ethnic supremacy.

Update, looks like there was some mis-information.

Local gay lobby, J-FLAG, is refuting reports that it will host a road parade in August when the group plans to have a series of gay pride activities.

Social media has been abuzz since yesterday following a report that the group would host a parade, similar to what is done in the United States and other countries.

However, executive director of J-FLAG, Dane Lewis, says the report is wrong, adding that Jamaica is not ready for such an event.

Meanwhile, he says the group is planning a week-long series of activities starting on Emancipation Day, August 1, to mark growing tolerance for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.
