What is the deal with some gay guys dyeing their hair a silver/grey/white-ish color? I have not seen a single guy it looks good on. More peculiar still, it seems to be young guys who tend to do it. Example:

I think it looks great icon_smile.gif Feels like it's also a way of taking away stigma from gray hair in general.

Okay, well, I guess the secret's out now so we can fess up.

You remember how when the older gays starting balding, so we turned the buzz cut into a fashion that the kids would pick up on? Well, that worked so well that we've decided to do it again, only this time with grey hair too.

Soon you'll be tattooing 3D lines of crow's feet alongside your eyes and liver spots.

If we can't stay young beyond our time, we're gonna turn you old before yours. Problem solved.

Silver? Really? Can't say that I've seen that yet. A few years back, it was pretty popular for guys to dye their hair platinum blond. Really strange.

I'm admittedly color blind but I said white/silver/grey because it either seems to be a combination of those 3 or at least a gradient.

I heard dyeing hair gray is a thing in some places. Personally around USC Columbia, where I attend college, I have not seen any guys including gay guys with dyed gray hair, so in SC, the trend has not appeared.

We in SC are always late to trends it could a trend in a year or two or maybe nevericon_twisted.gif

It looks hot on some guys especially young guys with a quiff hair cut.

I haven't seen examples of that in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. If it happens I guess that'll make my hair naturally fashionable, and I won't have to waste time & money attempting to dye mine in the opposite direction. LOL!

Mine started going white when I was 27. Never even thought of changing it. And NO, I don't dye my eyebrows, they are black, just genetics I guess, as my parents and grandparents also had black eyebrows until they passed away

I haven't seen any guys with silver/grey/white hair in my area (young ones anyway). I think it's possibly more common in the more bigger, metropolitan cities like New York.

I have been wondering why this trend occurred though I noticed it more with young women dying their hair colors like that or lavender. It's just another fashion trend at the moment.

I think that it can look pretty cool on some people though. icon_smile.gif

Grays and silvers are really in right now when it comes to interior design. Most of the model homes are using those colors as the primary colors...with accents of kind of a teal/tourquoise or bright green, etc.

His hair looks lavender in color from the reflective light but the trend of grey hair in young gays is likely to be in "fashion capitals" of London, New York, Paris, Los Angeles not in smaller cities, maybe the trend will spread but it may not.

This is not a new thing. I had my hair dyed grey when I was in my 20's. I remember she first bleached it platinum white, then put the grey on. My hair has been green, purple, orange, you name it, but the grey is the only somewhat natural looking color it's ever been dyed. I actually really liked it.

When I worked as a lifeguard in my 20's, I dyed my hair blonde. The very first time after that, when I dived into the pool, I woke up the next day, and my hair turned green. Bad Ideaicon_biggrin.gif

I thought green hair was trendy? Maybe just where I worked in Berkeley, CA.

Why should anyone care what people do with their hair? If you don't like it don't do it. There seems to be a rainbow of colors not found in nature that people are dyeing their hair. Just yesterday I saw an Asian guy with long (below his shoulders) with electric blue hair. I thought to myself he probably thinks he's trendy but I saw that back in the punk days. When you live a long time you see fashions come and go and then come and go again and again. Everything old is new again.

    Meh. Live and let live.
