I can just hear all the narrow minded bible thumping screwballs howling over this long overdue court order. Their beloved home state of Oklahoma is slowly being severed from the Bible Belt.

With all of our societal ills we waste out precious time on things like this. Exactly which of the commandments, if kept, would add to our social ills or make the world a worse place in which to live? It's people not keeping those commandments or those of their particular religion that makes the world a living Hell.

The first four commandments, actually, are a waste of what could have been valuable law: You shall have no other gods, Remember the Sabbath, No graven images, No blasphemy. It's, uh, hardly godly for a being to give a shit about such things. Really, jealousy? From a supreme being?

Honoring your parents? If they're great people--even moderately OK people--I can see that. But if they're a bunch of incestuous alcoholic kitten killers, fuck that. Stupid law.

Not bearing false witness? Great. Not killing? Great (unless you're the Christian hypocrite who believes in stoning people for violating these commandments). Not stealing? Great. Not coveting your neighbor's shit...really? That made the list? What horseshit!

How about: don't rape. Don't buy all the land around your neighbor so that you can force him out of his house. Stop killing kittens. Maiming is actually bad...even if nobody actually dies of it. Polluting? Voting Republican? I mean, if these commandments were directed by a god, I suggest that god get a better lawyer.

They should remove this monument because it's actually a step backward from actual first-world law.

So you didn't really answer my question.I'm disappointed; your responses are usually better thought through.

All these bible thumpers claiming this is a Christian country, to justify placing the 10 Commandments in public places, should read the US Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. The Commandments are nowhere mentioned. Nor is the Christian God referenced, or any specific god except in such very generic terms as a "Creator".

The religious intolerants are trying to hijack our government, and in some places they've effectively succeeded. And they've convinced many people, especially voters, that the US was founded solely on Christian principles, a country "Of the Christians, by the Christians, for the Christians".

They'll sometimes use the term "Judeo-Christian" to pretend their goal isn't a Christian theocracy, to make it seem like the Jews are being included in this. But the majority of their pronouncements are Christian theology. I'm kinda disappointed US Jews aren't more vocal about this, I'll have to ask some of my friends. I suspect the answer will be that given their tragic history most Jews don't want to stir the political pot, and instead keep a low profile in public affairs.

Hindus, Vegans Want Tributes Beside 10 Commandments At Arkansas Capitol

"The Arkansas Capitol lawn could soon get crowded: Existing statues that honor Confederate soldiers, fallen firefighters and the nine black children who integrated Little Rock Central High School might be joined shortly by tributes for vegans, a monkey-faced deity and a cloven-hooved demon."

Lol. I totally relate with that satanist. Kelly is just close minded and condescending towards all minorities, including religious minorities.
