July 4th is on Saturday this year, kind of sucks. USA observed holiday is Friday, so most people are off work/school for a 3 day weekend.

I like July 4th when it falls on Thursdays, then the weekend is free, so what are you all doing? Most firework displays are on Saturday night

I might go out Friday night, then watch my local area fireworks Saturday night

Fireworks are illegal in this county (Alameda) so I'll probably find a place to watch the SF fireworks show from across the bay.

Watching the Redondo Beach fireworks from my rooftop deck. Hopefully with some friends over. We'll also be able to see the Palos Verdes and El Segundo shows from there, albeit at a distance.

I haven't had to leave my home to see a fireworks show in decades. Convenient, since the 4th is a huge drinking day here - one of my few annual indulgences. Can't imagine what it'd be like otherwise.

I was thinking about going up to the bay area this weekend. Or even fly out to a different city/state. LA is kinda boring when it comes to this kinda stuff.

I currently have no plans for the 4th other than spur-of-the-moment find-a-place and watch the show. But if you fly up here I'd be happy to pick you up from the airport and let you join whatever it is we do (currently couchsurfing with another cool RJer, and have a rental car).

Oh and I know a really awesome sushi place. icon_biggrin.gif

Sea World has a good show and you can sit just out side on the beach and see almost the entire coast on a clear night

Thanks. But I don't want to impose. Also, flights are kinda expensive on such short notice. I was thinking about all this 2 months ago, but it completely slipped my mind.
