I'm in Minneapolis until August (if I like the job, I might stay longer). I finally have some free time and I was wondering what I should do. Does anyone who has been or live in Minneapolis have any suggestions on fun things to do! icon_question.gificon_question.gificon_question.gif

    Love the city!

Tons to do in the City of Lakes... Run or volleyball at Calhoun, check out music at the bandshell at lake Harriet, hang with the hippies on Cedar Lake.

Uptown Minneapolis has great bars and cafes, downtown has the night life and the best theaters.

St Anthony Main is a beautiful place to walk along the river don't come to the cities without stopping there at least once.

St Paul has the museums if that's your thing.

So much to do here it may be why I've stayed so long lol. And this is the best time of year so you've got a lot of options ahead of you icon_smile.gif

When I lived in Minneapolis, I used to swim across the Mississippi River and Cedar Lake.

Also, consider ice skating and skiing. Whups, that right! It's summer now, but only briefly.

I used to ride bike from Lake Harriet, to Lake Calhoun to Lake if the Isles.....and back to St Paul by the Mississippi.

The Walker, Mpls Institute Art, BBQ at Rudolph's (I hope it's still there!), hiking, etc.

Whatever you do, avoid Mary's parties.

Lake Calhoun is particularly popular for running. It's circumference is almost exactly three miles. When I lived in Minneapolis, one could run on well-manicured grass for about 95% of the distance around the lake. Unfortunately, there is more pavement now, but it's still a nice run.

The East River Road, from Franklin Avenue in Minneapolis to some distance into St. Paul, is also a good place for running.

Probably few people remember Mary Tyler Moore. There was a long-running TV series by that name. I've seen re-runs; now they would be considered shockingly sexist and offensive. The house associated with the TV series is in the Kenwood Park area which is a very up-scale area. The house fell into disrepair but by now may have been fixed up.

By doing a google search on "mary tyler moore house" you can find nice pictures of the house.
