What's the #1 quality I should look for in a long term partner?

    1. Friend?
    2. Smart?
    3. Funny?
    4. Sexy?
    5. All of the above?

Not always an easy find considering many are already hitched.......
Not sure what got me to think about it, but there it is!!
    Any suggestions from the married??
    What matters the most????

Forever, a gay man could just go out and have a good time. Now things have gotten to the marriage proposal stage. Can you still have a good time?

I see so many straight couples who after time become different from the point they married......

It's probably best to keep it simple. There's a reason why so many hot gay guys end up not finding what they're looking for.

Look for a man who can see past himself, can laugh at himself, and treats you and others with the utmost respect even though you and others may not deserve it at times.

If all of that is wrapped up in a face and body you find appealing, that's icing on the cake.

The heart and the mind are quite different things which is usually overlooked especially by masculine guys that are very right brained. So logical criteria is applied inappropriately to romantic situations. So if you want a romantic relationship rather than a business partnership you need to develop feeling and emotions and flow with them. The Briggs /Jung personality profiles are a
good intellectual way to introduce yourself to factors other analytical that make up human personalities.

Although I'm married, I'm inclined to agree with this one.

First you find a man. If marrying him is a good idea, then do that. Otherwise, just be his partner. Or fuck buddy. Or sugar daddy.

just saying the obvious. you're asking someone to answer a question about yourself that only you would know.

    The always negative spazzy. icon_rolleyes.gif
He wasn't looking for someone to answer a question about himself. He was asking about qualities in a potential life partner he should consider. People like to hear from others on various topics to get their take on the subject, to see things from a different perspective, to see if there's something they may have overlooked.

But yes, ultimately the decision on what he wants in a guy is his to make for himself - with some input from others if he so desires.

Love just happens. If it's the right man he will inspire you to be the best version of yourself in order to be the man he deserves. He will have qualities you never knew you wanted until you met him. And the sex will be amazing because it will be more than physical, it will be a mental/emotional/spiritual connection.

Your instincts are good: your original list, in that order.

That worked for us, my late partner and me for 23 years. And for new ptr for 9. And for the couples we know, gay and straight. Seems we're cool now and being welcomed into the club.

Do not be in any hurry. Fate will bring you together when you're ready.

Remember that civil marriage is contract, and you both have to work at it to get the practical utility out of it.

Hot is the icing on the cake, but without humor that would be a flat, bitter cake.

    Happy hunting!

If you have to ask on a message board, you don't need to get married. More likely than not, you are better off alone. That is all I will say.

Not so fast buster! I just wanted to know what qualities others looked for when dating. It's a common question that many dating sites ask, but this is just a bitch, moan and complain site now! Right?

I am not desperate, I am fine being single. Just wanted to see what other felt. That's all.

For me... the first thing I notice is attractiveness and personality.. . but over time, something has to take the place of how cute a guy is or it will fall apart.. things like compatibility are hard to define.. but a nice smile, a good heart, and smarts are near or at the top of my list....

A good lawyer. Now that you can legally marry a man, I suspect divorce will occur quite frequently as well.

naw, breh. i certainly am not looking for a problem but i don't appreciate being given the problem tag for saying something very simple which YOU repeated anyway so i dunno what's the point of what you're trying to do. i'm not looking for a fight here so no need to take it into that direction calling me negative and spazzy and shit. stop projecting.

You are right - calling you spazzy was uncalled for, disrespectful, and immature and for that I apologize. It will not happen again. Nonetheless, you are always negative in your tone. For that I won't apologize. And for the record I didn't call you shit nor did I repeat exactly what you said.

    Peace
