Deleted Threads and Lack of Participation

I was looking for a thread I had commented on yesterday, and it seems to have been deleted. It appears that at least three of the threads I posted in yesterday have been deleted.

What's going on? We've already seen a huge decline in member participation, and now we're losing content, too.

Can anyone recommend a site that is less flaky?icon_confused.gif

I'd like to find a forum with greater participation. I'm not really into profiling myself by answering questions, lol.

What kind of forum would you like to join ? Does it have to be specialized in fitness and health like realjock ? Does it have to be a gay oriented forum ?

On real jock, it appears to be more politics than fitness activities unfortunately. icon_confused.gif

That site is even harder to operate on my mobile than this one. It reminds me of that site gayspeak(?). I did peruse a couple of interesting discussions though. I think everyone on the internet is still talking about what a fool Donald Trump is, haha. Thanks for the tip.icon_smile.gif

Well, I always end up coming back to RJ... I guess I just grow weary of the declining membership. It's probably for the best, though, because social media is mainly just a huge, demoralizing waste of time.icon_lol.gif

What's the huge decline in membership?
What was it before, and what is it now?
Do you mean a decline in profiles, or just people who participate in the forums?

Both. When I logged on today, it said there were about 800 people online; a couple years ago there would typically be over 2000.

And btw, those numbers seem inflated. If I had to guess, looking at the threads today, it would seem like maybe 15 people are actually here posting.icon_confused.gif

its summer so less activity any forum

it takes a thick skin to post on realjock
-members have several soc accounts. This skews posting priority in their favor. A ugly post can get priority, just gets difficult to filter.
-gay rights have taken off and become political. Face it politics have changed since 2009. less gay republicans.
-you still see long drawn out debates arguments. Not a lot of information when this happens.
-lots of catfish and fakes. Everyone and anything has an account here. I can understand some getting paid to post here but gets ugly to think of peeps, not even gay, and put the effort to post here.

try reddit but not a lot of north american gay forums. Alternatives, from realjock:
    justusboys
    datalounge

when it comes to the bottom line realjock would change if there was a clear path for a better revenue stream.

Total members is about the same as it has been for years at just under 400,000, but online participation is way down. I remember 2,500 or so at any one time many times in the evenings just a couple of years ago.

Some of that could be due to the horrific flames wars that were part of everyday life here. I'll take partial credit for those numbers. Since I've mellowed out a bit into what is actually me, and many others have done the same, we don't provide the spectacle that we used to. I bet popcorn sales are down too.

I think that's the reason that we overall had so little censorship here .... those massive fights drove numbers.

The absence of the chat feature is what caused the biggest decline in users.

The more recent site hiccups such as slowness, spontaneously logging people out, etc. is what's causing the decline now. In fact, that's the reason I haven't been as active. It's annoying to click and wait, just for the page to stop loading and/or log me out.

That actually was not the real decline of the forums. The chat members and the forum members were divided in all honesty.

The reason for the forum members leaving was all the pointless fighting, trolls, lack of moderation, and then finally too much censorship from the new admins who only view this site as a cash flow from the advertisers.

I feel you. When I first joined the site earlier this year, the active people was around 1000. Who would expect the further decline? 800 is a warning sign already. icon_sad.gif

As the others noted, the cause of the decline is most likely because of the closure of the chat. Then the regulars slowly faded away from RJ, so as their pals. RJ's old forum system and negative or catty scene didn't help making the overall experience better either.

Not to mention the rise of numerous gay apps and social media apps.

I have the fastest internet speed on the planet, yet with this site I feel like I am on 90's dial up. It has some issues but, it's ok because I am out, LOUD and proud!! lol

Have a great summer to all the RJ community.

The quoting system is horrible. A general forum that simply list the most recently most to threads would encourage more posting as well. There could still be subforums but the all purpose thread would be default.
