Sen. Alexander opposed the bill on the grounds that it might "lead to costly lawsuits." What about the value of the human lives lost and destroyed by bullying and discrimination?

Here's a link to the roll call vote, showing the 7 GOPers who voted in favor of the amendment:

Are they "disgusting excuses for human beings," too? And, why didn't FL Demo Bill Nelson vote in favor of it? Is he one, too? Maybe Artless, with all his "inside political connections," can tell us - but keep it brief, please. icon_rolleyes.gif

Why didn't democrats take this up when they had control of the Senate?

Maybe because democrat Senate leader Harry Reid blocked most legislation, even things democrats wanted.

Maybe because Harry Reid never had a super majority (60 votes), and knew Republicans would defeat it? As they just did?

It should be called the Repugnant party. I wish they'd all move to Russia so they can be with like-minded bigots.

their voters should be sent along with them also. Otherwise, they would just elect another similar substitutes.

Couldn't we just have an anti-bullying law for all K-12 children? Whether its because of your weight, beauty, physical ability, race, gender or orientation the impact of being bullied is equally traumatic. I think whatever bill should apply to bullying in general.

If anyone has additional information or context, I'd love to hear it as I have not followed this bill nor the arguments.

I agree with all but the weight part, because weight truly is a choice. Other than that you're spot on.

That's not surprise, the bulk of them likely think it's possibly for the Christian student to beat the gay out the sinners. You'd be surprised how religiously fundamentalist and violent Republicans are.

As always when you speculate - and usually when you pontificate - you're wrong. How could I possibly know the details of FL's Democratic senator's life when I lack the intimate political connections you do. Go have another BM.

It's online and in other news sources. I didn't get it from "intimate political connections". But I appreciate the compliment that you think I would have those exclusive inside sources. Maybe if you listened to something besides than Fox and other Right Wing propaganda you would have seen it.

Now the question remains why you didn't do your research before you stepped on your dick. Or did you hope it would slip through the cracks, and guys here would believe your deception. I lean toward the latter. But either way, you're pretty dense.

I think he means Bloody Marys. Which I rarely drink. Or even martinis these days.

But tell yah what, Paul - when you get back here I'll make an exception for you. To toast your return, and buy you a round. Pick your place, and your poison. icon_biggrin.gif

It's not that republicans don't care about protecting students. They do care. They care about protecting the bullies.

And what sickens me is the RJ guys who rationalize and try to dismiss the Republican vote that caused this. And somehow want Democrats to share the blame. Disgusting.

    Place: Twist (www.twistsobe.com).
Poison: Marijuana, provided I can have a month or so off work so I don't have to worry about a drug test.

    BTW both are jokes. icon_lol.gif
