We come from different sociocultural contexts even though we are one in some ways.

Let us appreciate those who choose to go faceless unless they are exhibiting unacceptable behaviour. It is for a reason that some of us cannot show our faces here.

In some African countries, for example, people face violence, in others they face the challenge of broken ties etc.

The issue should be looked at sensitively and on a case by case basis.

    Best,
    GD

You really leap at every opportunity you can find to call gay men queens, don't you? Maybe you're just suppressing something you don't like about yourself???icon_idea.gif

if the tiara fits. i clearly referred to the type of gay person that would personally attack a guy like the OP for being headless without knowing anything else about his character or circumstance(s). that's a queen, queen.

You just did it again. Every post I've read from you has been like a broken record. Maybe you should get off the internet and find someone who can help you work through these issues--or should I say, werk it through these issues, gurl.icon_lol.gif

...says the broken record! and please spare me your 2 cent homo psychoanalysis. i've seen you throw some rather harsh judgments at faceless profiles, so maybe you should stop trying to play PC-police and werk on your issues, gurl. icon_lol.gif

My public pics don't show my face because I want the focus to be on my body -- a body that I've worked very hard to build. I'm happy to unlock my private face pics for anyone who asks.

Thanks guys. Accepting differences is quite important.

Likewise to me, I come here to admire n see bodies that motivate me to work harder and harder. Faces matter but bodies matter more since "we make them" while our faces are granted.

Excellent point - but to the OP's point - The message is to be tolerant and non-judgmental unless there is a basis to be negative about someone. If we all could just do that the world would improve by about ten degrees on that alone.

Agreed! Some of the kindest gents I've chatted with on this site have faceless profiles who unlocked their private pics (showing their face) once we had a conversation going.

I am one of those guys who actually got fired and a career stalled for a bit, once my news of my sexuality came out. So, I can see why some guys keep their faces off their profiles. Running out of money and losing a good job is not something anyone needs. Thankfully, I got away from the homophobic ass who canned me, and I moved on to a career where the people actually have intelligence and integrity.

Some people think you can't get canned for being gay anymore. Not quite true. If they hate your sexuality enough, they'll find a reason. A sudden little "reorganization" and you're out. They aren't stupid enough these days to admit they're canning you for your sexuality. They find another reason, even making one up.

But for the most part, if you live in a decent city and make sure you work for normal people, you should be safe.

I debated between showing my face in a profile pic. It's really simple, do I want people in my city to be able to just know I have a profile here? Do I really want potentially anyone to meet me and be like "so I just wanted to ask if this was you...."

Lol, saying that now though, it seems kinda ridiculous, but hey, it made sense when I was registering. xD

If people ask me my sexuality, I tell them unless they make themselves a clear homophobe. I don't broadcast it though, and I had to take a bit of a think at first when posting my photo online in making sure that the risk here was low enough for it to be safe. People with lower esteem, people with more uncomfortable questions to ask themselves, they're probably the ones hiding their faces more.

But hey. That's totally fine too.

I almost felt bad for you till this...you don't even see the hypocrisy.

Yes, fear of death is really the only reason not to show your face.

It's perfectly acceptable to keep your face pics as private and only unlock them for people you engage in conversations with. I can say from experience that there are a lot of crazy people out there and they will become obsessed with you. Better to keep your face hidden from the world, unless you're a celebrity

I've had several people send me suicide notes after I failed to validate their obsessions.

    *sigh*

My first experience with internet was WebTV (look it up if you're not familiar - it was really awkward).

Those chat rooms had no pics at all. In fact, back then, most chat rooms had no pics (not even AOL). And yet I still made a couple friends who are still friends today. When picture profiles started getting more available and I started seeing faces, that's when I realized how many super-weird-looking people there are in the world. icon_lol.gif
