His brother sounded reasonable & tolerant regarding gays, too, in year-2000 terms, when running for President. He did a complete 180 once in office, calling for a Constitutional Amendment to ban same-sex marriage, removing Executive Branch protections against gay discrimination, and using gays as the bad guys in his 2004 reelection bid, when the first of many explicit anti-gay measures were passed by the States in that voting cycle.

Given the Bush track record, I have no confidence that Jeb Bush can be trusted on his gay policy statements, either.

I trust him as much as anyone on my three big issues.

I trust him as much as anyone on my three big issues.

Do they include manual transmissions? What the heck is that picture doing there? Is Jeb known for rebuilding them?

But seriously, one of MY big issues is gay rights. And I am confident Hillary will be more positive on gay issues than anyone else among the current candidates, except perhaps the unpredictable non-Democrat Bernie Sanders.

And before anyone compares Hillary to husband Bill on gay issues, as I just did with the Bush brothers, let me correct his oft-maligned and misrepresented record.

DADT was his clever Executive Order end-run around insurmountable Congressional & Pentagon opposition to his real intention, elimination of barriers to gay military service. DADT was better than nothing, and skirted existing federal law that already made gay military service a crime. Your sexual orientation was impossible to uncover if you weren't required to self-report or admit to it, as previously, or unless you got caught in the act.

DOMA was passed by Congress and was veto-proof. I suppose Clinton could have vetoed it on principle, but it still would have passed into law. He knew his own political capital to win other battles would have been diminished, and the overall standing of Democrats damaged at the polls, had he vetoed it.

So he conceded the inevitable and signed DOMA. But contrary to anti-Clinton revisionists, he neither authored it nor actively lobbied for it during the legislative process.

    "Given the Bush track record"

Given the (your last name) track record, you hate homosexuals simply because your two sons and ex-wife does.

That's pretty much what you're saying

"I trust him as much as anyone on my three big issues."

    Again:

    Islam
    Russia
    China

I presume you mean that as an equivalency statement, contrasting my opinion about Jeb Bush. I don't want anyone here to think that I hate homosexuals.

But it's true my ex-wife and sons do, as does my younger Republican sister, too, one of the reasons we're also estranged. A painful side of my personal life I wish you wouldn't reference so publicly. Among the prices I've paid for being out.

I didn't say I know Jeb hates gays because his brother did as President. Rather, I indicated I can't TRUST him not to reverse himself as his brother did on this issue. Jeb was not gay friendly as Governor of Florida, further making me wonder about his true feelings.

DUH! I finally got the connection with the pic! Military trannys = trannies. Maybe a pic with many trannies would have made the link more obvious for me. I get more dense with each passing year. icon_redface.gif

My sad attempt at being a little punny.

That's the infamous Muncie M-22 you're looking at. The rock Crusher!!!!!

Yeah, I should have looked up a new tranny pic with a bunch of big trannys ... military style you know. Big beefy butch buxom trannies!

However, we have a rain free day so far so a bunch of things to do out in the yard while the getting is good.

    yes

You've discussed it extensively here on RJ so I didn't think it was an issue. I'd be happy to delete my post if you wish?

Thanks, but no, it's already out there. Perhaps I shouldn't share my vulnerabilities so freely on a social site.
