Houser's wife, Kellie, told police that he had a "history of mental problems (manic depressant and bi-polar) and currently is prescribed medication to take daily."

Nothing to do with "Confederate flag-flying, Tea Party membership, Obama hating, or Hitler admiring." As if those things were the cause...

Thank you for this excellent example of hypocritical liberals displaying their ageism and bigotry against the mentally ill.

On local soil, I'm more concerned about Christian fundamentalists. They seem to kill more people over here than the Islamic fundamentalists do.

I'm originally from there. My sister-in-law posted that she was just at that theater with the family on Sunday. Not that they would have seen Trainwreck...

Oh yes, whenever it's a white shooter it's "mental problems" and"isolated incident"...the minute it's a criminal with a little melanin in the skin it's "terrorist" and "thug" and evidence of problems with every person of the same race haha.

This guy's anti-government, anti-feminist angry white conservative male leanings are being well-reported in the media. It has everything to do with it, and it's not mutually exclusive to mental problems since it is increasingly clear that right wing extremism is a mental disorder.

Almost all black murder is inner city ex-cons/felons killing each other over personal beef -- why do white guys likes slaughtering people they don't know (something they've done throughout history incidentally)?

It was stated, not by me mind you but by the media, that he was prescribed medication for manic depression and bipolar. So IN THIS SPECIFIC CASE mental illness is a a factor. Are you a mental health professional? Is right wing extremism a legitimate diagnosis recognized by legitimate psychiatric professionals? This has nothing to do with his skin color. If he were orange, I'd still be making the same observation.

And what's your point you are trying to make in your last paragraph? Is it somehow better or acceptable for inner city excons with beefs against each other to kill each other than for mentally ill people to kill strangers? When someone kills innocent strangers because they are delusional in their thinking (not necessarily a psychiatric diagnosis) it is no less a crime than when inner city thugs kill each over over vendetta.

"the minute it's a criminal with a little melanin in the skin it's "terrorist" and "thug" and evidence of problems with every person of the same race haha."

Yes, the minute it's a criminal; he's a thug, but no, not evidence of problems with all people of his race.

Nothing I've written should lead anyone to believe I think the guy (had he survived) should have been given special treatment by the criminal justic system just because he was a mental patient.

Actually, I am a mental health professional and I can therevore inform the uninformed (like you) that homicidal rage is not a symptom of either depression or mania, so the old "mental illness" canard won't work. Most people have some form of diagnosable mental illness -- 99.99% of us will not kill anybody.

You can be mentally ill and also be homicidal for other reasons, just like most people can walk and chew gum at the same time, unlike conservatives. Your statement that his political extremism had NOTHING to do with his homicidal rage remains a false statement.

Don't worry, there are millions of more Americans that hate Obama also. I guess you should put them and label them in the same category.

He must have meant patient instead of professional, or maybe a professional patient. icon_lol.gif
