WTF? These are HIS people, he is going to arrest his own people? Republican constitution-freedom of speech? icon_confused.gif

Oh, I see, he's running for president, distance himself from his own radical party, did anyone watch this clown in interviews during shooting press conference? He acted like a horrible, fake, religious school principle, doing a religious 'pep rally' directed to town folk, thanking his god every other sentence. It was extremely transparent and the typical right wing hypocrisy, BS, in action. F Loser icon_lol.gif

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) said members of the Westboro Baptist Church face arrest if they try to protest funerals in his state for victims of the Lafayette movie theater shooting.

The hate-mongering church has indicated it plans to protest the funerals, which begin Monday. The group considers mass shootings in the U.S. to be an act of God in retaliation for various sins.

Jindal is upholding Louisiana State Law. This is not a freedom of speech issue as ruled by the US Supreme Court.

Finally your right wing governor is doing his job. There is a very remote possibility that Bobby Jindal is starting to realize how dangerous and out of line most of these flaky fundamentalists are. Also Louisiana is having grave budget problems so he has to do something productive to deflect attention from his failed fiscal policies. I am glad that he chose to go after the Westboro lunatics.

It would be really funny if someone shot all of them, except one. I wonder if that one left would echo that same message. icon_wink.gif

Ironic. Just two months ago Governor Jindal issued an executive order to protect religious freedom, and allow discrimination against same-sex couples, saying, "As long as I'm governor, we will fight to protect religious liberty and not apologize for it."

Apparently now Mr. Jindal draws the line of religious freedom at the Westboro Baptist Church.

Previous Democrat Governor Blanco is mostly to blame for Louisiana's problems by increasing state employee salaries and repeal of the Stella Plan.

Obama's refusal to sell US oil to other countries from the strategic reserve to support continued sanctions on Iran is another factor as well as vetoing the Keystone Pipeline.

By exacerbating Louisiana's budget problem, Obama keeps people in poverty which is an important goal for Democrats.

I haven't noticed any gas shortages anywhere, and prices are well below those prevailing in the Bush administration, so this comment comes across as just more Faux News sort of spin, in circles, going nowhere.

And FWIW, it is the Republicans fighting Democrat attempts to raise minimum wages, to keep their corporate owners happy.

Louisiana's budget problems under Bobby Jindal are of their own making; Obama doesn't plan, write, or sign the Louisiana state budget; Republicans do that.

I would hardly call the nutcases who infest the Westboro Baptist Church "Jindal's people." After all, one never goes after his own, right Barack? icon_rolleyes.gif

Just another example of the ad-hoc use of rules and arguments to support one's position, even if such ad-hoc usage shows itself to be glaringly hypocritical.

Kind of how Romney used to be liberal when it fit him (Massachusetts) and then switched to the GOP when it better suited him. Nothing new here. Randomly drawing lines of religious freedom--apparently Westboro is now out. Got it.

Your pricing argument supports selling US oil abroad which Obama opposes.

Liberal Democrat Hillary didn't propose raising wages or unionization during her 6 years on Walmart's Board Of Directors.

Fact: Previous Democrat Governor Blanco greatly increased fixed spending and repealed the most important elements of the Stella Plan.

Louisiana has many unemployed (and previously high paid who would have paid state taxes) in the oil industry due to:

Obama not allowing Federal Oil Leases.
Obama vetoing the Keystone Pipeline which many Democrats wanted approved.
Obama refusing to consider selling US oil abroad.

I thought the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of the WBC's right to protest funerals?

There is absolutely no legitimate need for the Keystone pipeline and I am happy that President Obama did the right thing by vetoing it. We don't need Canada's inferior quality tar sands oil. We have more than enough oil deposits in our own American backyard. Canada needs to find another country to buy that inferior, shitty tar sands sludge.

Well, that's what I remembered. The SCOTUS overturned a similar state law that was aimed at WBC. Was it Missouri? I don't recall, and I'm too tired to research it right now.

Why does Jindal think this can work? A Federal judge, using the SCOTUS ruling precedent, will stop it, as any of Jindal's legal advisors must have told him. Pure grandstanding and playing to the Republican base, whose support he needs if he's going to raise his standing in the polls prior to the decision on Presidential primary debate participants.

Everyone here hates Jindal. On every block of every street you can find homemade signs that read: "Jindal, just stop talking." Typical Republican idiot.

Not if the state (such as Louisiana) has a law against protesting at funerals.

Jindal gave one of the worst nationally-aired State of the Union official responses, to President Obama's first address before Congress. He made himself and the Republican Party a laughing stock. He doesn't seem to have learned much in the years since.

Watching and listening to him speak, I could see him saying something stupid, in public, like "you are supposed to like pussy", yes? icon_lol.gif
