Hydroxycut - I need your opinion...and hints!

    Hey guys

    Does anyone on here use Hydroxycut? I was recently given a bottle...and I guess my only other questions is when would you suggest I take the pill(s)? I am STARVING when I first wake up....and I don't know if taking a fat burner right away is smart....or maybe it makes no difference? I'm pretty oblivious.

    Any help!?

    It's not sustainable...not to mention it barely works anyway (I tried it a few weeks during my weight loss process).

    Why do you need a fat bruner?

    It's just caffeine. IIRC, the recommendation is to take a couple on waking, and have a large breakfast about 20 minutes later. Although arguably, going for a run before breakfast would do the same or better at boosting your metabolism.
    I dunno - I once worked with a pretty buff guy who was the guinea pig for some of those studies... Basically the subject of his (later) wife's exercise physiology Ph.D. thesis. Yeah... she went out and made herself a man icon_razz.gif But I only have a hazy recollection of the actual data.

    I had another HS friend who got booted out of his first college, after an emergency room visit, for caffeine abuse. Definitely don't exceed the recommended dosage.

    So does eating a few eggs, or last night's leftover chicken chimichanga, or last night's leftover chicken chimpanzee, or last night's leftover blackened chicken fettuccine alfredo, or last night's leftover tuna/salmon/shrimp/squid/eel group boat sushi, or a bagel, or anything else that gives your body energy.

    Hey, just had a banana.

    I don't know bud, I just thought I'd give it a shot. I am a little frustrated...I have drastically changed my diet...and I work out a LOT. Definitely changing up the work out routine and what not. I just feel like my body has been staying in limbo....I'm not seeing much progress. I've put mass on since college (part 1 of the goal) because I ran track and cross country and was thin. Like, really thin. Now I just want to tone it up!

    I've read that Hydroxycut gains are modest. Perhaps fat loss is also due to a placebo effect, or rather, it's more the recommended diet and cardio schedule Hydroxycut directs you to follow that's responsible for fat loss than the actual product.

    If you're going to play with your metabolism you're probably better off with caffeine.

    It's extremely hard on the kidneys and you have to maintain a lot more than usual hydration while on it. I have young people all the time in my ER using this stuff for dehydration and reversible kidney issues. And if you do use it, make sure it's short term.

    Fasted cardio is as far as I will go when risking my health for weight loss and even that is kind of living on the edge for me.

    Past experience - It doesn't work. It's a water pill (as I call it) and if you want to lose like 5-10 pounds for a wedding then go for it. Just be prepared to piss a lot. Once you stop the bills the weight comes right back. But if you don't mind wasting a LOT of money then go for it.

    Now the right way - proper diet and exercise. Idealy you want to lose between 1-2 pounds a week. Some weeks you won't lose anything but keep at it. Proper diet is eating in proper portions and cutting out things you don't need. Do you really need 2 sodas/pop a day? Start out with just replacing 1 a week with water then another. I'm down to 1-2 a week and even then I think it tastes awful.

    In just over 18 months I've lost over 60 pounds and it's staying off. I still eat what I like but just eat some of those fattier foods in moderation.

    Yes my bf% is still high but once I put my mind to cutting out more of those fattier foods it will stay that way. But I'm off 5 Rx's and smaller then I was in high school so I can live with that for now.

    Cardio is what helped me lose the weight. You can do it but remember it's a process.

    I lost 70 lbs doing it the exact same way you've been doing it. That was back in 2010-2011, and the weight is staying off to this day. icon_wink.gif
