tiddlypush saidIn the past month two guys pretending to be US military personnel deployed in Afghanistan got in touch with me. We exchanged mails. No demands were made initially. Then one asked for an IPhone 6 to be delivered to North Carolina (!). The other guy wanted $ 400 to buy insect spray. I have been on RJ for several years and have linked up with, met and remain friends with several wonderful men. So this is the first time anyone tried to pull something like this. Anyone else had a similar experience?
edit: Oh you didn't actually send it. Good man.
Wait, if they were in Afghanistan why did the iPhone go to North Carolina? Why would he need an iPhone6? Why would he need $400 worth of bug spray when the military has environmental protection supplies on hand already? Military-grade supplies. That stuff would be contraband anyway.
There are way too many whys. My dear friend, generosity is never a bad thing. But you absolutely need to be sure that your money is going to the right place for the right reason to the person who deserves it. What happens if you get scammed too much and stop being generous? The world doesn't need fewer giving men in the world. Be careful.
