    Hello.

I'm going to post this under "All Things Gay" because this is really addressing the whole site and the nature of the discussion here.

So...I know that RealJock is based out of the US, and as such there is a high number of American users. But can we please do something about all these threads that are exclusively about American politics/politicians? Every time I log on, it's all I can see.

    Today for example:
    --------------------------------------------------------

    MODERATED FORUM TOPICS

    --------------------------------------------------------

As a non-American member, I find myself logging on to the site and quickly logging off because these topics always seem to be the priority on the main page. I really think this is a problem. It's incredibly off-putting for many reasons. These posts always attract negativity, and there's already so much negativity on the forums. Plus it's always the same handful of members who flock to these threads. Many of them have made it clear that it's their only purpose for using the site.

So can I propose that these threads get either reorganized into their own sub-category (apart from the News & Politics Board) or that their priority gets bumped down? I don't know if these threads are hand selected, or if there is an algorithm that can be adjusted to compensate for this. But there must be a solution. And I think that there are of course good reasons for some threads about American politics to live on the front page. But most of what turns into a top thread is simply rage-bait for one's political opponents.

I'd just like to throw that out there as a suggestion. I do actually like this site, but I haven't felt connected to it in a looooong time. I'm certain I'm not alone.

Those threads get the most page views. So there's a specific reason for putting them on the front page.

But why even bother checking the front page for new topics? It doesn't get updated everyday. It's basically whenever the admin feels like it.

You're better off just adding the forums to your browser's bookmarks or set it as your homepage.

Nothing needs to be updated if some senile men would learn how to post their US politics in the right section in the first place icon_rolleyes.gif

    Simple....start your own topic!

Shall we start a censorship campaign here?

You can always block the Mett8 or the Southbeach types, they both spam the most....LOL (joking lovers)

Don't blame any posters for the content of their posts. RJ members are not in charge of the 'moderated forum topics', from the first page after sign on. You are correct in addressing your issue with RJ Admin.

These are serious issues that affect our nation, and our LGBT community. What kind of fluff, would you like to see in this section if not American politics? You don't like it now, just wait until debates and presidential election draws near, 2016, im sure it will be much worse. icon_lol.gif

^Yeah, what he said, start your own topic and hope that RJ Admin will add it as moderated, why don't you show us in this thread, topics that you have posted that RJ Admin would be interested in moderating?

Just a note: you should refer to it as 'my nation'...... we are not all American.

Maybe there could be a sub-forum for American politics?

By rights this is supposed to be a gay athletic men's website, not a political gossip and bitch session website. The politics has driven deep dissention among Realjock members. The politicians are going to do as they please regardless so might as well focus on more positive things in life and ignore politics.

It's not so much that politics have overwhelmed the forums as it is that all the non political people have joined instigram instead.

I agree. What do gay people know about politics. Or even sports for that matter. Gay people only know the difference between azure and periwinkle and when not to wear paisley.

I must be straight, because I don't even know when to wear paisley, let alone when not to wear it.icon_eek.gif

    Edit: I'm not a nudist, I'm just fashion impaired.icon_lol.gif

I know paisley but I have no idea what the difference is between azure and periwinkle.

    to the OP

-your interest would be better served joining gayspeak.com

-stop bitching; there is a block function on realjock and it will filter out the trolls. Not the best solution but the trolls and the site admin know they interact to a increasing limited audience.

This is what I'm getting at.

It's one thing to discuss policies that are specific to the LGBT community, even if they are America-centric. But this election crap is unnecessary. I would hope that the admins would take steps to engage with members from all around the world, not just the American ones.

Yep, I've noticed how threads are created under the wrong sections. Can't deny that the admins aren't really strict, that's why people are fooling around.

    @TomSOCAL:

DC is the fittest city in the US, not the smartest. Sexy men grow on trees here. DC's smartness increases around 9AM and decreases around 5PM.

    +1

Also, I don't think the forums are moderated....at least not like I have seen other web sites moderate with volunteers.
