My husband (SB Alert) turned 81 last week icon_exclaim.gif . One of the gifts he received was this chair, designed and named after him. By possibly the leading Art Deco and Retro furniture designer working today in the US. Whose award-winning works are all over the world, from the UK to Sweden to Dubai, the Kennedy Center in DC and throughout the US.

It's named the "C*** Chair" after him, and I believe will shortly be appearing in the catalog for purchase. Quite an honor, and I'm so proud for him. icon_biggrin.gif

Play semantics all you like. WE call each other husbands, which is all that matters. Do you have one? Are you even gay, for that matter?

And have you ever had a chair named after you, and given to you for your birthday, by one of the leading furniture designers in the US?

    No? Then STFU! icon_biggrin.gif

No eating on that recliner! Easily the most elegant I've ever seen. My dad's 81 and has problems getting in and out of recliners. Is it also particularly well-engineered?

Thanks. But it's not a recliner, just an arm chair. With the arms it's not difficult to get out of.

Peruse the site link I provided, and see the other furniture our friend has created. You'll see his style. We love to sit and talk Art Deco.

    1) Congratulations to him on reaching 81, and hopefully there will be many more years to come.

    2) I don't understand why you continue to post here that he is your husband. He is not your husband, he is your partner. You and he have had the opportunity to marry for quite some time now, yet you haven't. Until you do, he is not your husband.

One of my favorites is his "Hollywood Chair". I believe this one is a recliner, but I haven't seen it IRL He lists it as Art Deco.

    Common Law?

Perhaps, but OUR law. We've had legal documents that effectively have made us married for the last 7 years, before same-sex marriage was legalized. I've written about it here often.

The timing of our marriage is dependent on a number of issues, including making it very special & memorable. No rushing down to a city judge for us.

I quite like it. Did he happen to say how much this will sell for? I'd have to do another color as that is my wall color. And this is right when I really screw things up.

This would be stunning for my home office, a room that I'm not done with yet because I haven't been able to figure what to do with it.

I'm far far far from an interior decorator. Coming out in 1970 didn't help one damn bit. Although I can't do it myself, I sure know it when I see it.

We haven't asked him about price. That would have been crass for a gift. Go through his site, he's got a large selection of chairs & sofas, and other pieces. When you see something you like let me know, and I'll ask him. But individual pieces from him are VERY expensive. All made right here in the US of the finest materials. Expect at least 4 figures.

"We haven't asked him about price. That would have been crass for a gift"

I misunderstood. I thought it was a gift you had made for him.

I would expect at least four figures though. And true, I am watching it a bit money wise because deals here are much smaller, but that chair certainly struck me as about perfect for me.

Why was it named the Cunt Chair? I assume that's an inside joke otherwise it wouldn't be very nice.

That chair won't do for you.

It doesn't have a cup holder... and it doesn't have a seat belt to keep you from falling out in the floor when you try to stand.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidThat's a very handsome chair.

It would go so well in a vintage modern or modern apartment. It's a piece of furniture that allows for eclecticism when designing a room.

What is the fabric? Leather or vinyl?

Leather. All of his furniture that is not fabric is leather, never vinyl.

I'd perused the site and the C chair was filed in the site under recliners…

Still, wondering if it swivels or rocks. Though the high arm function sounds good.

Your friend's furniture is amazing, modern twists on classic designs. Totally a lot of people's tastes. Each piece looks to be a fortune. RJ discount, lol?

If he's healthy at 81 there's no reason he shouldn't be healthy at 91.
I hate how people are talking about how they are at deaths door for 25 years these days. Such a waste.

If your heart and veins are healthy and you don't have a disease you are alive and going strong.
People live well beyond 100 now. You can't stop living because you are 70.
Ain't nobody got time for people being all "Oh, I'm just happy if I have another crap." for 30 years.

And dude, you got your guy a chair for his B-day. A fucking chair.
    To sit in.
At 81 I would have broke up with your sorry ass.

You misunderstood. The gift wasn't from me. It was from the furniture designer himself, a good friend of ours. I knew nothing about it. He gave a chair as a gift because that's what he's famous for making, not because my husband is 81.

Thank you, it is. And with you as well, I trust.

In many ways he's in better shape than I am. I've told the story here that when our primary physician reviewed his lab work and examined him during a routine checkup, said: "Your health is remarkable! You're gonna live to be 120!"

"He's gonna live to be 120?", I asked, sitting there in the exam room. "Doctor, can I have a second opinion?" SMACK!

LOL! Truth is, his lab work, blood pressure, and other health indicators are all extremely exceptional for someone his age, and better than my own. I've always told him he's gonna outlive me, and I still think that's true.

Thanks, I just found it pictured there myself, I hadn't seen it before, his latest addition to that page. But which includes lounges and sofas, in addition to recliners.

He's listed this chair as a lounge. His original email to my husband with that studio photo said "Chair" but I see he now calls it a lounge in his catalog. If it's a recliner he calls it one in the name. We haven't received it yet, we asked Lu to wait until we make room for it in our small condo. Then we can confirm it's definitely not a recliner but a lounge chair, as he uses the term.

    nice
think it would be better in an office type situation--home; it will require pillows to be comfortable (under you arms)...you going to sell it and give the money to charity???

    now this one...

this one must have...straight for pay to get two of these for the Lanai.
