FYI: IMO, The original title is a major exaggeration, so I adjusted the main title.

Still I love McDonalds over any other fast food and when eaten sensibly it really hits the spot!

Most of their food is total garbage. Literally! And more and more people are learning this. Just read up on how the Mc Rib is made. Or their burgers. The only thing I eat from there is their grilled chicken salad.

Don't believe all you read FL. In the UK at least they're really proactive in letting people see exactly what's in their food.

When I'm in a cash pinch I'll cheat my calories with McDonalds.

I always get THREE triple-cheeseburgers and some ranch for dipping. Eat them all in one sitting.

they never had so much competition 25 years ago

now they can't compete on price, quality, atmosphere, etc

they're just lost in the shuffle now

Typical pithy yahoo 'journalism'. I can't think of any time in my life McDs was associated with quality or 'nutrition'. It has always been fast, relatively cheap and pretty consistent (in North America). Nothing more, nothing less.

I think their slide has more to do with demographics and marketing constraints. Guys in my age range remember Saturday morning cartoons and Ronald McDonald commercial carpet bombing from 7am to noon. Charlie Brown specials taught ethics and humanity brought to you by McDs (and Dolly Madison). That dosent exist anymore. They have lost a generation that was not brainwashed into associating McD with all things good and 'American'. In a nutshell: not as many youngsters to backfill the adults who grew out their McHabits. Similar to big tobacco.

not really, people just have 20x more choices for fast food

probably more people eat the overly-processed, chain-store food than ever

    I have NEVER eaten there!

Last week I went to this nice LOCAL(Sedona, Az.) cafe called the red planet cafe.
Fun space aged theme and wacky really. A fluke I dropped in. They had BISON BURGERS on the menu. It was amazing!

I am glad I checked in, had lunch and them went on a great hike.

Sure, but only if we're also trading protein. icon_razz.gif

That's because he's 22. If I ate that, I'd be sick. Just thinking of all that ranch makes me want to puke, lol.

(Today, I've had plain oatmeal with blueberries, unsweetened green tea, cantaloupe, wheat thins, coffee, and water. I've also lifted weights, walked my dog, used copious amounts of anti aging serum, and smoked weed for my allotted vice/mental health... I feel great!!)icon_lol.gif

My tastes have changed. I used to work at McDonald's in HS, 1974.

I love stuff like Del Taco's chicken tacos (real cheddar cheese, not the "American" cheese "product") it tasted fresh. And a Quesadillas.....grilled to perfection with gooey cheese!

    Still love McD's fries!

Back in the day, the happy meal with the toy was like Christmas year round. Then when I got older big mac was also joy in a box followed very closely by the quarter pounder with cheese. McD was a family restaurant much like Pizza Hut WAS. You'd see a McD's every 3-4 block. Cheap AND tasty AND fast.

But over time, their food tasted more processed and less fresh. They'd use the bitter stalk of the lettuce, their diced onions became onion sprinkles. The McNuggets were soggy and burned. Their milk shakes sent me to the shitter as I discovered I was lactose intolerant. The beef patties became thin, grayish wafers. Morning breakfast was the only thing they dominated.

Now, there are at least 10 other places that have delicious burgers plus sweet potato/cajun/waffle fries and onion rings. Other places have homemade milkshakes and old fashioned ice cream and fresh pie and sundaes. And the breakfast that McD's dominated has been split into coffee shops and breakfast burritos at other places. So now instead of being cheap AND tasty AND fast... MCd's is just fast. And I would pass 5 other options before getting to the closest McDonalds.

Chipotle was their shot at glory. And they couldn't recognize a good thing. They should scrap their entire menu. Make 3-4 things that are the absolute best of their kind AND serve beer.
