This is my first post so i'll keep it short and sweet.

Yesterday Iceland, amid its recent financial and political collapse has elected a gay woman as interim PM. Iceland may not be a world leader, nor did it her make front page news (except probably in Iceland), but I think its another great step towards social and political equality; and sets a gay national leader precedent.

    Heres the NY times article

Just our luck, the first gay leader in the world is in a country that is in desperate shape! Oh well, hopefully she will have a grace period in which to prove herself.

Iceland is in really bad shape... they may find themselves recieving aid usually designated for developing countries, a la IMF or the World Bank (I think they have already received some cash). They may even get tossed into the EU.

/Did I just say that a lesbian may get tossed? Oops.
