My YouTube channel has lots of footage from my Micro SD card.

However, getting the footage from the Micro SD card to the computer has always been a time-consuming headache.

I now have more footage that I'd like to get from the Micro SD card and it's still being a headache-inducing nightmare...lots of "reboot the system" and "reinstall the memory card" bullshit.

Why won't it just copy the files like my regular "Normal SD" card does?

-very gently clean the computer contacts with air spray and or a tooth pic.
-borrow a usb reader and see if the memory card reads faster better with it instead of directly plugging it into the computer
-is there a small plastic frame to convert a micro sd card to a full size card?
-do a google search on the mcro sd card you have. Other owners may have same issues.

The card probably isn't the issue. It's probably something with your computer, or whatever process you are using to get the footage off of it.

Get a quality card and reader. Class 10 from Samsung, Sandisk, or Kingston. I haven't had any problems uploading footage.

Finding them is the problem. I've been through over 10 readers so far, and only one worked well. Unfortunately it's in Miami and I'm in SF. It would be nice to be able to "try before I buy" with card readers.

research the reviews on newegg.com, pick a product with a lot of reviews and than pick the one with the fewest bad reviews, ignore the positive.

    newegg has moderate cost

if you connect a reader via usb you will use a different computer connector and possibly a different software driver

its equal probability the card is bad
another thought before you toss the card
if the card is still not working and you have the time:
When your card is empty. All SD cards are formatted like a hard drive. Research what is the best format of several possible, for your SD card. Verify it is formatted that way and or refresh the card with a new format. Again google is your friend.

I recently got one from Transcend and I'm pretty happy with it.

Got it in my Amazon shopping cart. Thanks!

But then I tried one last-ditch effort just to make sure I'd exhausted all options. Turns out all I needed to do was spray the card and reader with this stuff. Now it works flawlessly.

San Fran from the air part 2 coming soon! icon_biggrin.gif

I hate micro sd cards with a passion. They never want to read, it's hard to read the video or picture files on them, and they crack very easily. Once a micro sd is cracked, that's it.

You think they have the technology to fix shit like that, nope. icon_sad.gif

Um... you do know that stuff is straight carbon tetrachloride don't you?

Yeah, I know, when we were kids they taught us to wash our hands in that shit, but now it's like deadly taboo carcinogenic wear a moon suit within a mile of it stuff. Unless, it's Lectra Kleen, then somehow it's OK.

Years ago, I was trying to help trace the Deadly Evil Hanford Carbontet plume. But none of the analyses made any sense. We had more carbon tet in our drinking fountain than the EPA Superfund site seemed to have? Turned out the union craftsmen were spraying that stuff around like it was silly string. Also turned out there was nothing that could be done, because a scientist can't question a Union guy. Absolutely out of bounds. Also turns out that our animal lab used albino rainbow trout to test everything. Why? Are albino rainbow trout some special breed for chemical testing? No. It's because any ordinary rainbow trout raised in our building's water turned albino within a couple of generations. So they just rolled with it. icon_rolleyes.gif

a usb reader is like a buck on ebay, no probems. sometimes they come free with cards too. adapters to sd are almost free as well. i do everything usb though, sd card reader slots suck. try licking the gold, it is usually a contact issue.
