History has just been made, people.

Caitlyn Jenner posted her first ever selfie today, Aug. 6, at approximately 11:12 a.m. PT. The fashionista, who is up against the likes of Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and NickiMinaj for the title of Social Media Queen at this year's Teen Choice Awards, captioned the monumental occasion, "No #SocialMediaQueen can be crowned without posting a selfie, so here's my first! #TeenChoice." She made sure to add a link to the voting website, for good measure

This is disappointing. She's 65... why is she trying to compete for Bimbo title against Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj, especially after everything she's already accomplished?

Undoubtedly she's very attractive. He was handsome as a man, and she's pretty as woman. That being said, not every male-to-female transgender turns out like her--and therein lies the tragedy. Many transgender people (m-f, f-m)do not have the financial wherewithal to transform themselves into their preferred gender. Many go to "backroom" providers than turn them into monstrosities (using industrial silicone, for example, etc.). So, it's good to see fully transformed, attractive transgender people, but let's not forget the other side as well--those are the ones who need our sympathy and empathy.

Actually other unretouched pics and candids show her skin to be no better than you'd expect at 65 - kinda wrinkly. But the basic structure is indeed attractive.

She was more or less taken as a joke by the media. Anyone recall being in the checkout aisle of a Walmart, or any other supermarket, and remembering just how much they mocked her? Hmm, her publicist did a fantastic job in making Jenner appear so heroic now, and this is even after months when her Westside driving on PCH had just killed someone. She may have eluded manslaughter charges, but the success of her recent publicity will likely demotivate any kind of civil lawsuit against her now. Her publicist was the one that single-handedly resurrected Robert Downey Jr's career after his numerous drug busts, and there's nothing like having what amounts to as a billion dollar publicist to sway the public to your side. So if Jenner is the recipient of a carefully managed and promoted publicity machine, an inorganic manipulation of sorts, should anyone, or more specifically, transgender people themselves, ever want to find her inspirational or praiseworthy?

There is already so much fake that goes into the whole Caitlyn Jenner phenomenon, that her being happy, or having others appreciate transgenders in general, will simply be temporary things. Much like gay marriage itself, if the components that go into these phenomenons consist of fake, pretentious, or what have you elements, than they are already undermined by being composed of these very elements. And though public opinion may be welcoming of gay men and the transgender now, this appreciation is inorganic, if not subtlety coerced, and will not likely stand the test of time.

Yes, as a man his skin looked bad. Transforming to a woman doesn't change your skin. That photo is obviously heavily retouched.

    ENOUGH WITH "FREAK" JENNER ALREADY!!!
I get it the idea of media discussions and public interest on here, but for crying outloud, there's nothing natural/real about trannies, it's annoying and very uncool. Please tell me I'm not the only "real" man here who actually knows that. . .

Gay marriage isn't fake or pretentious. When you're in love and you're committed, it's authentic and it feels most natural. It's the first most important relationship since mom. I guess fewer gay couples have kids, but kids don't hold together a marriage. Marriage is a symbol that you're with the one person you want to spend the rest of your life with, and a lot of gay men want that, or even if they don't want right now, they want to have the right to it.

    +1

There's also nothing natural about the internet, or cell phones, or automobiles, or air travel, or trains, or space travel, or beehive hairdo's, or skyscrapers, or bicycles, or skateboards, or snowboards, or dildos, or tofu...yet we use a lot of that stuff every day and never think about how "natural " it is.

What would your life be like if nobody ever gave you attention? Not even your family, friends, or acquaintances?

Is wanting attention really that bad? icon_wink.gif
