Ultra-conservative Liberty University in Virginia has released its Fall 2015 convocation speakers schedule and there's a little something for everybody:
Ben Carson, William J. Bennett, Darryl Strawberry, Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson, a couple of Duck Dynasty people, the killer of Clarence the Lion and Bernie Sanders. Anybody have any idea why Sanders would choose to speak at this Evangelical Christian University?

Just kidding about Clarence's killer. For now.

Sanders probably thinks he'll be treated more courteously than he was with the black lives matter thugs in Seattle. Oops I used the word "thugs". That must be a non PC code word for .... thugs.

This ought to be interesting. His speech is set for 9/14 and will be available on line, though I'm not sure when they'll put it up. I would expect him to provide some common sense views on morality and religious freedom.

Like a lot of progressives, I'm assuming he thinks he can flip conservatives if he just talks to them. That certainly is not reality, though.

My personal experience has been the opposite. With economic or government matters, I have flipped many "progressives" by presenting common sense facts. I have observed in general, fiscal conservatives are more open to listening to other viewpoints than are "progressives". I am not including social conservatives here because I don't find them as open to different opinions.

No doubt they "agreed" with you, mainly to get you to stop going on about it.

Bernie is the voice of an era about to close. He is worth hearing to remind folks that freedom must and should include freedom of religion. icon_wink.gif

This is likely the truth. Sometimes you have to humor people.

Nope. Not the truth at all. Away from the media sound bites and often dishonest headlines, the progressive ideology is fairly easily dispelled to those interested in discussing.

You must be a very persuasive person if you can make people change all their beliefs just by talking to them. Wow, that is nothing short of amazing. I bow down to you, because you are a great man.

I generally don't get into any involved discussions with "hardcore" believers, who I don't find too open to any other opinions. The ones I'm referring to are those who have believed lies and slogans put out by the media, etc. - Such as [fiscal] conservatives don't care about people, blah blah blah. Often just pointing out what they have heard is slanted opens their eyes.

You can call yourself a fiscal conservative, as opposed to a social conservative, but no one is tricked into thinking you care about people. Lol. Your posts show that you have a callous attitude, if not outright animosity, towards people who face social injustice.

From your perspective, anyone who is not a downright socialist or even communist doesn't care about people. The truth is those of your ilk are the ones who don't really care. Your policies and politics in many cities have kept an underclass "in their place". Very convenient to keep those in servitude so they will rely on government and vote for your ilk who promises them goodies, and demotivates them from climbing out of their situation.

The wealthy get more handouts, privileges, and tax breaks than anyone. That's why they have lobbyists. You begrudge the government helping anyone who is poor because you want the government to only benefit the rich. There was once a conman who coined this policy "trickle down economics."

So you are re-educator? Charming indeed. Those who feel the need to re-educate people usually give out slanted information. Conservatives tend to worship Ayn Rand, so it's not really a lie or slogan that conservatives tend to be more self-centered.

We need something/one really fresh here and the options are narrow.

Duh, Liberty University has a Center for Judaic Studies and Bernie is a Jew.

Duh, Bernie isn't a Liberal Progressive, he's a Democratic Socialist.

Conservatives provide more support to Israel than Liberals as evidenced by Obama's marching Jews to the oven door with his Iran Nuke Deal that even Liberal Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer now won't support.

Conservatives unlike Liberals provide more support for free speech at the University level as witnessed by so many Liberals blocking Conservatives from speaking:

-Condoleeza Rice blocked from Rutgers in 2014.

-The Advocates for Conservative Thought was almost blocked by former University Of Miami President Donna Shalala now of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.

-St. Louis University blocking conservative David Horowitz from speaking.

One of your own Liberals recently penned a book: Kirsten Powers’ “The Silencing: How the Left is Killing Free Speech"

Powers makes it perfectly clear in her book that she has supported gay equality since the 1990s. When working for the Clinton administration, she was considered a radical for supporting same-sex marriage in an era when few Democrats embraced it, including Hillary Clinton. In multiple pieces published in USA Today and even in Christianity Today, Powers has been unafraid to challenge religious leaders over their behavior toward gay people. But her courageous support isn’t good enough for the Left. It wants unequivocal agreement with its agenda.

Bernie felt that since Trump is aiding Hillary in running for President, he needed all the help he could get.
