Small Italian town bans death, threatens higher taxes

Facing a dwindling population of approximately 500 people, a small town in Calabria, Italy, has banned dying, announcing Wednesday that failure to comply with the law would result in higher taxes.

Behind the hype, there is actually a sensible mission here:

The mayor, a qualified doctor, says he wants people to feel a "duty" to attend all the health screenings they are offered, to ensure the village doesn't "die of depopulation". So far it seems to be working: Mr Zicchinella says 100 people have visited the local health centre for checks in the past month.

Perhaps the 'Land of the Free and the Home of Obesity' (where, of course, obesity has an adverse impact on the economy) could benefit from something similar.

Well, you do post quite a lot of incoherent nonsense that doesn't even warrant a response, but I'm always happy to chime in during your lucid intervals.

Are vending machine taxes Federal? I thought they were mostly local. And most US States are now controlled by Fascist Republicans. Perhaps you are identifying the wrong perpetrators here. States impose sales taxes, and some with income taxes, that hit lower income people more that the 1%. Whose Federal tax rates amount to less than working class citizens.

I beg your pardon Mr. My posts are all current and backed with relative urls. Some are odd, that's true.

    Now, for the nonsense?

I only post on topics I find hard to actually believe. They are truly happening in reality. I can always count on you to boost the topics reply!! lol
