Um, I just made this statement about man bun and the first ones 1990, my thread I cant find in All Things Gay? Now GMA is all over it, definitely seems to be a hetero-lumber sexual thing icon_rolleyes.gif

No, we hate the man bun?

There are approximately 7 billion people in the world. It would be one helluva boring place if everyone had the same hair style. icon_wink.gif

And the fewer who sport "manbuns," aka topknots, the better. The only buns I want to see on a guy are on his behind!

First of all... Mr. Fuscle... you have waay too much time on your hands. I see your posts everywhere...

BUT, in sticking with the subject of buns on a man's head... I personally like it...on the right guy! In my opinion, it looks best when the guy's hair is naturally curly...and not too long. I have some background in the film industry.. and I see a lot of stuff from guys who are just trying to stand out.
There have been some that I thought were a bit "over the top"... but coming from an old guy who doesn't have ANY left, I'd do a lot of weird stuff to my hair NOW that I would never have dreamed of doing when I was in my 20's or 30's.

This actually had me laughing.. icon_lol.gif

I don't mind the man bun. Just like with anything in life some people make it work.. Others get an A for effort. icon_wink.gif

Better the man bun than the rat tail of the 80's.

I live near a college and see all the young kids so desperate to have the man bun they take any amount of hair they have and wrap it tight with a rubber band. I don't particularly like it, but I did use to have a Mohawk for a while. And I know some people who didn't like that. So go them I guess. And someone mentioned the rat tail. God I hated that even worse. But this too will pass into some other hair style.

I think it looks awful. Usually all drooly and thin and curly at the neck. And feminine. Yuk.

Hardly taking over. Merely the trend de jour with a few self-absorbed fashionista. A silly aberration that will soon go away.

I think this hair style is more attractive than someone in work boots and jeans but as soon as they open their mouth, a purse slips out. It is never about what a guy wears but who is wearing it. I have worn my hair longer, a chin length bob but I don't think it will work at my age.

I believe I have seen 40 man buns in the last 7 hours (I'm frequently in the Hollywood to Silver Lake to DTLA to USC area), and it is quite simply an epidemic. I even saw it in the suburbs a few days ago, and that says a lot about how much of a trend it is, and thus potentially unattractive.

When form meets function and other aesthetic prerequisites, something like nudity, and even man buns, are not just acceptable, but to be appreciated on their own merits. The man bun phenomenon lack such merits, much like the public shower nudity promoted by the OP and other gay men on this website, which is more like the promotion of trauma as a collective rite of passage by "old fools" who don't know any better, but not of the man bun or nudity itself. The man bun is a historic haircut and does look well on the right kind of person, but it's adoption by people I don't really see as "first class" may as well make the man bun an aberration.
