The worlds oceans are polluted and with the warming waters the algae grows and it's highly toxic, among other things that are really doing the wales and other marine life harm and death!

Interesting article to read, also found this on one of the other article about oarfish death, probably not related to the whales since this was on Catalina, but maybe the same cause could have done them both even geographically they're not close to each other.

That picture of the bears feeding on the huge gigantic whale though made the bears look like ants lol. But I actually don't think this is a panic since the article did state that even though these deaths are higher than the yearly average, it's possible that other years they were under reported seeing how they found carcasses and everything.

You need to do more research: Over-fishing, smuggling of exotic fish, Shark-fin pouching, hunting of endangered Dolphin species and the all time favourite 'clubbing Seals to death for fur coats'...the list goes on. In South Africa we have a problem with Perlemoen pouching, that rakes in millions of Dollars. The pollution in the Ocean is just a tip of the Ice-Berg. Man is destroying the Oceans and Sea's at an alarming rate, as well as the entire surrounding environment. Rhino pouching, Exotic animal pouching, Ivory Trade, all to aid Terrorist and drug activities.

And to fill the endlessly deep pockets of right wing supply siders and Wall Street. I am more than sure that the global financial community is reaping huge profits from this environmental degradation and destruction.

You all have 'Hit' the nail on it's head. Corruption upon corruption. The same reason why The Vatican, relies on the illegal activities of the Italian Mafia and why Cuban Officials protect their Drug Lords. My guess, all this funds ISIS too.

And by using the term "Wall Street" you are including Democrats like Obama and Hillary, yes?
Absolutely yesicon_exclaim.gif Obama and the hapless Hillary ho are only liberal and progressive when it suits their personal agenda and their bank account. Both democrats and republicans are equally guilty and that's no bullshit.

To some degree all that has changed in regards to ocean health is trading old problems for newer ones.

Last month on PBS there was a program about masses of dismembered bodies in the basement of a home where Ben Franklin resided for many years as ambassador to England. They also dug up the decayed remains of a sea turtle. In doing so they found enormous amounts of mercury that was freed up when they dug, more than found in sea turtles today.

Remember the Gulf Horizon Oil Disaster in 2010? While US environmentalists were predicting widespread long range poisoning of oceans. They had to ignore all the studies done by Norwegian of oil rig leaks comparable to the Gulf Horizon event. Just as the Norwegians said, within three years sea life in the Gulf of Mexico would rebound to populations far above those before it. It's due to the bacteria that consume the oil increasing the food supply for zooplankton who in turn feed newly hatched fish fry and shellfish larvae who in turn feed larger organisms.

The biggest problem I see when I go out in the boat is trash, mostly plastic that I often take time to investigate. Overwhelmingly most of writing on plastic bottles is Spanish. I've pulled out plastic deck chairs with labels showing they came from a ship, The American Star that operates out of Maryland. There's enough scraps of hair weaves floating in the Gulf to start a funny reality TV program about.

The most bizarre thing I've found so far was a small small plastic cooler full of clothes and four year old viagra prescription.
