What am I getting myself into? Lol.

I am finishing up school at PSU. Living in SE PDX. Any advice on things to do, places to see, and ways to meet some cool guys in town?

Is it because of traffic congestion or do people just drive slower?

I'm from Chicago and when I drive on some of the main streets in Seattle I get really fed up when people want to crawl at fifteen miles an hour. I'm not used to that.

people drive slower. i mean the speed limit is 55 on the freeway which to me is insane. im used to 70 in california. but driving i come across people going 35 or 40 on the freeway and its aggravating if theres more than one of them so i have to wait to go around. why are they even on the freeway going that slow?
congestion isnt THAT bad. i mean theres some during rush hour but thats to be expected.
but other than that the people on the road are really nice. i have yet to be cut off or tailgated or all the other crap that i dealt with back home.
start out your drive a few minutes early and your good

People from California, Chicago, New York City, Washington DC, Atlanta, and Miami all need to slow down and their quality of life will greatly improve. Their road raging, high speed driving makes life very unpleasant and dangerous. It also gives the above mentioned places a very negative, hostile image.

Portland is awesome, please do not move here unless you are ready to assimilate to our culture. We drive slow because we're stoned and enjoying the scenery. Everyone is semi-retired and we do not value careers or money. There is a strong contingent of Californian tech people that are changing this though. Fararis parked outside the former anarchist flop house, zine press. Brunch lines are getting intolerable. Traffic is absurd, newcomers will learn to live closer to work, and walk or ride. Please come here to work on an art project, or your garden, or whatever cool shit you've been wanting to do. But don't be a dick to anyone ever. We're very serious about being chill, accommodating, and at one with the universe etc.
