Will be going to LA next month during mid September. Would love it if you guys could share what's happening and some favorite spots to enjoy a good time. Partying, shopping, beaches, ect. I know little about the gay scene in LA, so feedback on that would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance icon_smile.gif

BTW - you can call Los Angeles, LA. No offense to the good state of Louisiana. Context is generally clear.

Party Scene: West Hollywood is pretty fun. Clubs Mickys, Rage, The Abbey, The Bar, Eleventh Lounge and HERE Lounge are my favorites. (For drinks, I love PUMP Lounge @ corner of Santa Monica/Robertson, best Raspberry and Coconut mojitos). icon_biggrin.gif

Beaches: Malibu, Santa Monica Pier, Venice beach

Shopping: Beverly Center, The Grove, Santa Monica Place, go to Rodeo Dr/Beverly Hills if you're loaded.

Hotels - there are some cute smaller hotels close to WeHo, try the Ramada in WeHo across fro the Los Angeles Sporting Club.

You should rent a car too, since driving will be essential.

+1. Los Angeles is not going to start adding dots. It is what it is. Louisiana and Los Angeles are not the only acronym for LA.

L.A. can be a lot of fun. Just stay away from West Hollywood unless you like hyper-stereotypical gay men. I can honestly say The Abbey is the worst gay bar I have ever been in. If you melted down all the toe rings in that place you could make a tank!

Silverlake is a lot more down to Earth. Venice Beach is also very cool.

Agree. It's only the outsiders who put the dots in.

Reminds me, in one of the South Bay towns is a street officially called Marine Avenue. But no local would ever call it that. Locals say Marine Street. Anyone saying Avenue is a dead giveaway as a non-local.

Check out the Tiki Theatre if you have extra time to kill. It's an adult theatre which you have to see to believe. I'm sorry if you're gay and live in LA and never been there, even to troll, you need to turn in your gay card. lol.

JK, but seriously check it out.

I mean LA is pretty big, so I would take advantage of free shit and maybe more obscure places since I assume you're homosexual. Like LACMA, and the hollywood strip, and the freakshow museum.

Abbey used to be great, and same for the old Mickey's before the fire. I still like it, but way more 'tude. Cantina is fine. Motherlode is fine. Rage on certain nights.

Contrary to everything we all hear about WeHo, I still had a bunch of fun. Even parking was easy. I parked in the PDC. Even on big event weekends such as the homosexual festival or whatever the movie awards show night is called, I parked at Beverly Center and walked up.

And if I had one of the collector cars out, there was one or two parking spaces surrounded by support pillars on the 5th floor of the parking garage over by the security office where no one could park next to me. So even the car is safe.

Shocking from a Right Winger like me to have enjoyed WeHo.

There was a day before the latest PDC remodel that we did car shows there

Or how they pronounce Sepulveda or even mid westerners and southerners pronounce Wilshire.

How to fall in love with Los Angeles

A globe-trotting writer visits the West Coast city for the first time and wonders why he waited so long.
