Art_Deco saidBut I'm not sure what it has to do with this discussion about my selling charity raffle tickets at Rumors. With very good results, BTW. We're just now breaking down.
Your giving of your extremely valuable time to charitable causes - and the fact that you NEVER broadcast it unless you're backed into a corner - puts all of the rest of us to shame.
So let's back YOU into a corner. What have YOU done for gay charitable causes?
The fact you ignore is that mentioning these charitable things isn't about self-aggrandizement, but about trying to encourage & recruit others to do the same.
How do guys know what they can do for their gay communities, if they don't hear about examples of what others are doing? It's something I learned in the Army, that many veterans here can affirm: you lead by example.
At the same time, I'm very reluctant about personal publicity. Our local gay photographers, especially our icon "Pompano Bill", know that I decline being photographed. I'm not important, only the event is. Let others hog the lens. I take a terrible picture anyway.
So long as the event is published & seen I'm satisfied. It's never about me. Let others take the spotlight, that's not how I function. I just want the results, the mission accomplished.
And then I'll talk about it here, to maybe motivate others to do the same thing for their own gay communities. Is this so awful that you're always attacking it?
