So Im new to this whole site, but I figured I would this forum thing a shot.

I live in the deep south and I always run into a cute guy on Grindr or something and he will say "you are cute, but you're black". I don't take offense to it, but is there something wrong with being black? Its either that or guys just don't reply to me. Is this something that just goes on in the south or is it all over?

1.Keep in mind grindr is a "I want sex and I want it now" app. Anyone who tells you otherwise, don't take them seriously. It is not a dating app, or a friendship app. It's mainly used by married straight guys wanting dick after their shift is over, or for guys to experiment and maybe if they had a bad day or something, they go on grindr for a quick fuck.

I'm not saying that grindr can't be used to find love or relationships, but that's not it's core purpose.

2.With number 1 in mind, guys are very upfront7 and direct with what they want to achieve on grindr. Because it is mainly a hook up app, guys don't want to waste their time with someone who they are not attracted to or want to deal with.

Unlike relationships and friendships to where you can actually be more open minded and learn more about the person as time goes on, with quick flings and hookups, there isn't time for that. Guys want what they want on grindr, and they are very thorough about it. So that's where the No asians, no blacks, no guys with blank face pics quotes come from.

3.No of course there is nothing wrong with being black. I'm black myself. Don't use grindr as emphasis on how the gay culture works. Even it was, be a maverick and step outside that. Prove the assholes wrong and don't give up.

4.It's not just the south, it's all over the globe. East and west coast united states. Canada, uk, australia. etc. This is a big issue on grindr.

5.Consider what I said previously. Don't use grindr as an example as to how the gay community works. Don't give up on yourself. Love and relationships work best when they come naturally. Take care. icon_smile.gif

I know it can be hard to keep your self-esteem and confidence when you see all these lines pasted all over the gay dating apps, but as the post above me explains it, don't take gay dating apps too seriously. Over the time, you'll come to realize all these people aren't worth your time who say or write such things. Just accept the fact that like any other human being, gays can be unsympathetic assholes. Don't let few of those assholes control your views about the rest of us.

I would avoid most of these gay dating apps if I were you. I find that Jim Crow era attitude of "no blacks" highly troubling. We are all human beings and we are all the same on the inside.

I see you live in AL, that could be a reason right there.
Like someone else said, don't let that statement define your view of the gay culture or negatively affect your self esteem.
I think there is a very thin line between sexual preferences and blatant racism.
People are just wanting to get off as fast as possible and are taking all the shortcuts while expressing what they are into.
I really don't worry about it when I see "no blacks".
I actually get the "I am not usually into black guys, but..." or get called the n-word when I don't reply...So yeah, thick skin man. Stay strong...or move somewhere more progressive whenever you can.

Crooaagggg - the brothers on this site ....
    ...........................

if some parts of the online gay community are racist, that doesn't mean something is wrong with you, that means something is wrong with it. Your main question should be, if these men are so needy and pathetic to the point of needing to be racist, do you even want them? If the answer is "no, I don't want a racist," congratulations because they are sparing you. It may be a sit, but the vanilla double scoop of your dreams is just a grind away.

That explains why I used to pick blackberries from the wild blackberry bushes on the farm I grew up on.

People's dating preference should be treated in the same regard as the don't ask don't tell policy. It's probably better not to say not into blacks. Just say I'm not interested.

Yep, and it's quickly becoming the same way in straight bars...at least in metro areas. Now I feel comfortable asking a guy in a straight bar if he's interested. It's no longer the "OMG you're a faggot!" response I used to get. Instead, it's a "sorry bro I'm into chicks" and I go on my merry way.

Ignore users like Chulo. I ignored his posts. Nothing is wrong with being black, or being asian, or even fat. You don't want to associate with anyone who has those kind of issues. For what it's worth, most of the biggest dicks I've ever seen are black.

Then you need to move out of Atlanta. Black gays everywhere else in the globe idolize white guys like nobody business. Especially here in Los Angeles.

Yeah there is something wrong with being black, just like there is something wrong with being over 30, or over 40 (i.e. older than fossilized dinosaur shit), or having a waist bigger than 32 inches, being bald, being too short, being too tall, having a small dick, having a dick that is too big, being uncut, being too hairy, not being hairy enough, etc., etc. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'd tell him "No blacks, no sense, no service."
