The way I always handled it was to say that I was HIV negative up front. Which kinda meant he hadda say something in return.

But whatever he said, I still treated him as poz. Even if he really thought he was negative, he may not have known. Safe Sex means assuming EVERY guy is poz, no matter what he says or thinks.

Always. Even if you have protected sex, it's good to have as much info as possible.

Hey he finally asked a relevant question! Give him a break.

Short of wearing a 'toxic' tattoo (HIV UVL is not toxic), I've very out about my HIV+ status. It's on here and every Gay site I'm on.

It should be an easy conversation. I was with a friend at a bar, and another guy. We were discussing SCRUFF and the other guy wasn't showing up. I said "Oh, I filter for POZ guys"....it's a part of being social to me.

He said he wasn't pozphobic and we all just talked about it. He didn't think it was necessary to filter out Neg guys.

One time, where I didn't meet someone online and we didn't have the 'discussion' yet. I said "oh, damn we haven't had THAT DISCUSSION yet!" "I'm undetectable, you?" "yep" end of discussion. that's all there was to it.

I hope there is a backstory here where this is a joke. If not, it's a pretty disgusting thing to say to any person.

Yes, just ask. If they're hesitant, pause, or say/do anything suspicious then call it off.

I take it you're secretly POZ.
It's a crime to lie about your status.

    Two troublesome posts in one.

I can't address the vomit comment. But Read about HIV is not a crime from the ACLU:

    Suspicious and secretly POZ?

How about whose who unknowingly spread HIV?

" The analysis showed that 30 percent of new HIV infections were transmitted from people who did not know that they were infected with the virus, highlighting the importance of getting tested. People who had been diagnosed were less likely to transmit their infection, in part because people who know they have HIV are more likely to take steps to protect their partners from infection.

“Positive or negative, an HIV test opens the door to prevention. For someone who is positive, it can be the gateway to care and the signal to take steps to protect partners from infection. For someone who tests negative, it can be a direct link to important prevention services to help them stay HIV-free,” said Eugene McCray, MD, director of CDC’s Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention. “At CDC, we’re working hard to make testing as simple and accessible as possible.”

    Ask for papers.

aren't you the guy that's always posting about how it's safer to bareback than to have condom sex?

What an absurd statement/paraphrase.If that's what you've gotten from my post and links to the CDC and others.......you're fucked up as hell.

No I'm the guy who says PrEP and TasP are more effective than condoms at 70-80%. They are all tools to be used.

For you I'd recommend putting the condom over your head and breathing DEEP.

I ask on the date we go on before we have sex or I ask when I meet him in public first, which you should be doing. Of course, you'll still be nervous. You can only ask and then still take precautions. If you have sex with a positive person, safely, the percentage rises high that you will not be infected. We can only go by percentages, the only sure fire guarantee you will not contract the virus through sex is abstinence.

So you agree on how in many countries/states it is an obligation for a HIV+ person to disclose their status to their partners, otherwise it's considered a crime. I assume you agree with that then.

Can't wait to see the "midget" answer this question. Although considering how much he lies, I wouldn't be surprised if he says he agrees now.

Mr. mental Midget, lets go back to your statement "He's also against the rule HIV men must disclose their statuses!"

Rules are not laws. The "rule of thumb" is to disclose. My "rule of conduct" is the same. Which is why I disclose even on RJ.

Laws and their implementation are a different matter and discussion.

With that comment you proved to be a shorter midget than David.
Standing on David's shoulders, both of you are still short.

You have to be really slow not to understand the difference between a law and a rule.

In my attempt to educate, here's a primer (I assume you know what I mean by a "primer"?):

    1. Laws are the legal variation of rules.

    2. Laws are enforced by governmental factors such as the police and prosecutors.

    3. Rules are set by individuals.

    4. Laws are set by the government.

    5. Laws must go through certain processes to become laws, including a voting process.

    6. Rules are set by organizations and individuals.

    7. Rules are more flexible, and have lighter consequences when broken.

    8. Laws are inflexible, and carry stiff penalties including imprisonment, and in some cases, death.

    9. Rules are set during childhood to prepare for living in accordance with laws

    10. Laws are not a teaching tool, but a tool for keeping order in society.
