Darryl brings up a good point about how the media wants to control the narrative of black identity:
The sassy queen who channels black women, which have been appropriated by white gay men.
The homo-thug, fetishized for being the forbidden fruit or playing on the trope that the much-feared thug is actually harmless because his sexuality erases his (perceived) aggression
The guy on the dl, infecting others with HIV because black msm do not use condoms and his community rejects his sexuality
These are just a few examples of how strict the typecasting can be. Regardless of how you feel about the actor himself, the points he brings up are very real.
