    Someday, I will look out my bed room window in the morning, with a fresh woody and I will be looking right at one of the flying video machines!!LOL

    The Selfie-Drone: Invasion of the Vacation Snatchers

    This next generation of drones, which are just beginning to roll out, doesn’t require users to hold remote controllers: They are hands-free. Simply toss them in the air, and they will follow you like Tinker Bell. With names such as Lily (around $700 on pre-order) and Nixie (not yet available for pre-order), they are capable of recording breathtaking video footage and trailing adventure travelers across bridges and streams, down ski slopes and into secluded gardens.

    They're a lot of fun, and well-received with the public when they know you're using it for legit reasons.

    Just yesterday I was watching a vid on the new tech. Super cool, no doubt. I forget the name of one I really liked that not just follows but orbits and does pans between focusing on the user and their surroundings, and then I saw another that I really liked, might not be for sale yet, the CME I think it was called. Super cool.

    But I do have major mixed emotions about drones. On the one hand I think they are excellent, on the other I think it should be legal to shoot them the fuck down. And I hadn't even considered that nude beach thang. With that in mind, someone ought to invent a killer drone. One built to attack photodrones. Clearly this is privacy invasive bullshit, that people can't enjoy their naked selves on a beach so designated without worry about having their dicks wind up on youtube. This is bullshit.

    Were I younger I'd probably give in to the urge to buy. Now I'm like, well, that's really cool but meh! It's not exactly a Johnny Astro, ya know. We had technology too.

    You might want to read up on photo laws. When you're in public, there is to be no expectation of privacy. Every nude beach has HD webcams already, so if you've ever been to one you're already on camera. Worried about the privacy of your front yard? Chances are, there's a webcam, CCTV cam, or similar watching you.

    If you're afraid of video, stay the fuck in your fucking house and don't go outside. Ever.

    one of the great mysteries of life: why is that the people who are naked in public are not always the people you WANT to see naked in public.

    ^^ Most nude beaches, you're absolutely right. But Black's Beach in San Diego always has a pretty good population of guys you'll WANT to see naked on a hot summer day... including the OP, apparently... and me, from time to time...

    Is that REALLY the kind of world you want to live in? It's absolutely disgusting that we have no privacy anymore and yet you seem happy about it.

    I was there (@ Blacks Beach) a few weeks ago and this dude actually had a Drone at the top of the hill away from the gliderport flying down the steep hill area looking around and flying around. I could sum this geek, fatty right up. Want something too see? I hiked down in my speedo.

    ++1 billion.
    My question, why? Why do we need this stuff?? Just because someone dreams up these things, suddenly we have to put them into everyday use. Jesus, give me a break already. As if our lives are not stressful enough!

    Big, and very tacky, but I would hazzard a guess that the Hermitage, Neuschwanstein, and Versailles each cost hundreds of times as much.

    Saw one last week in the middle of the highway, just at windshield height. It's a good thing the car in front of me was going at tourist speed. Turned out that his buddy was trying to photograph him driving along the cliffs. At least I spoiled their shot. Wish I'd been driving the beemer instead of the jeep. I'd have passed his ass and zoomed off in style.

    ...for when texting while driving isn't distraction enough.

    Bring in the Drones!
