Just a question. I tend to get that, and I am kind of annoyed by that sometimes. Is it weird or should I put a new perspective?

    Thanks!

You are right; I prob connect it into the fetish side. I should see it differently.

I prob though of it as a fetish rather than a preference in person.

I think it would behoove you to adopt a new perspective. It's better than seeing, "NO ASIANS" in people's profiles.

You are right; that's another topic. I have seen those as well as no blacks. I have no comment on that other than ignoring the person because it's like saying I don't like to talk to people with these races.

^ All minorities want to get white guys to 'uplift' their status. How white guys should feel about being wanted for their skin color only and not because of their personalities? icon_rolleyes.gif

Be glad some are into asians and don't complain.

You might sound justified to yourself and feel good about it, but I am afraid not everyone will see you that way. I find diversity sexy because I am afraid to become a person like you.

You live in a country which is mostly white, everything different will be a minority deal with it. If you don't want to be a minority or be "exotic" then move to China or some other asian country where you will be just like everyone else. Your ready made line "I like diversity" is bullshit and makes no sense.

And just for the record I do like asians, but I do not like your attitude or your victim complex, specially when its about people accepting you.

I didn't intend to make you upset; I am sorry about that. I didn't intend this thread to be a hate thread anyway. icon_smile.gif I just want to see different perspectives.

It's not weird that some guys are attracted to asian guys (or, as Metta said, to any other subset of men). But it is weird (maybe offensive?) that someone would say that to you. If someone is objectifying you based on your race, they should keep it to themselves - sort of indicates that they don't see you as a person, but as a stereotype.

No, it's not weird. All of us have preferences, and that is one of many.

That's no different than size queens saying, "I like big cocks, <8 need not apply."

How does it make anyone feel to be liked or wanted only because they are a particular race or color or nationality or their cock is > 8 inches or any other accidents of genetics or birth? It will make anyone feel like an object. Deep down people want to be liked/loved for the personality attributes that make them uniquely them.

I have found men of all colors and nationalities and heights and body types and eye colors attractive but I'm especially attracted to guys with dark hair and eyes. Luckily for me nearly all "races" and nationalities have their dark hair/ darker eyed members. That's not to say I haven't found blondes with blue eyes attractive either.

If we are talking about responses you are getting from hook up sites then you are going to run into a lot of objectification. It comes with the territory.

Are the guys you're alluding to specifically not Asian? If so, they might just see Asian guys as their type, but maybe they have an unseemly way of going about it. I guess you could reject them if they're crass or objectifying your race in a way that makes you uncomfortable. Or if you like them you can use it to your advantage.

If said by a fetishist or someone who has gotten sick with "Asian fever" or someone that wants to "try Asians", the compliment is otherwise meaningless and an appropriate level of aversion is justified by the receiver of the compliment.

Considering you'd more likely see "NO ASIANS" happily disclosed on a profile wayyy more often than someone saying they actually like Asians, I'd say I don't see anything particularly wrong with it.

In fact it's probably at least a bit of a nice change since Asian minorities are one of the most rejected minorities in profile dating sites like this generally speaking.

Not weird at all. We all are attracted to whomever we're attracted to. Two good friends of mine got married a couple of years ago. One is Asian, the other Caucasian. They laughingly refer to themselves as 'Rice and Potato'.

If i were u, I would be annoyed as well.
They're only hitting u up because they like asians. Nothing else about u is interesting to them. You fulfill their fetish/fantasy, that's it. You're an Asian object.... nothing more.

Just like when someone will say "I like blk guys".... it's sad and tragic. And ppl that say that aren't worth the time it takes for a response.

I would not gratify their statement with a response.
They should be hitting u up for ur super cute face and hot bod....not your race.

The responses have been mixed, and they are all thoughtful except for some. ;P What I have learned is that it's based on the people and situation too. I had been with a guy, and he was into asian looking guys, but he never introduced himself to me as "I like asians." We had a good conversation, and later I learned that he had a preference for asian looking guys. I realize that it would be really rude to say someone on upfront that they like them because they are certain race. Well, do you REALLY like all asian guys? prob not.

So yea, ^Import^ made a good point.

It can be bad to say I like Asian guys. The observation about this comment is that it shows you they see you for your race rather than person. However, are you going to back away for a relationship because they said that single comment? I wouldn't break away from the person unless they made it deliberate.

It's nice to know there are some people who have the capability to separate race from attractiveness.
Race is just a basic identifier but it has no bearing on the quality of a person.

Then again, people don't care about the qualities someone has within if they don't like the package it's wrapped in.

It depends. If his attraction to Asians is purely a fetish, then it can get annoying. And maybe a little creepy.
