I've been noticing several guys at my gym that have larger arms have NASTY stretch marks on the shoulders.

Are they working too hard, too much, too fast?

I don't want this to happen to me, it looks gross, like track marks icon_eek.gif

I feel compelled to offer them cocoa butter or sumthing.

if your REALLY concerned abotu it simply use a good lotion containing vitamin E, collagen or cocoa butter, these will give your skin more elasticity, and so you wont get stretch marks! icon_biggrin.gif

Stretchmarks are a point of contention with me. If you look at the following picture that has popped into the ad spaces in this thread, then the picture on the left would be me - minus the piercing. I hate it! How the hell do guys get stretchmarks on their stomachs?! I wish they would go away already!!!

Comes with speedy weight gain, what you're skin's like, etc. You generally only see stretch marks on fat people, pregnant women, and weight lifters.

yeah, I know. After I quit smoking two years ago is when my weight ballooned. I'm just glad I'm finally getting on track again. Still, it's embarrassing icon_redface.gif

guitarboi, if you're set in removing these features from your skin, wiki the word 'Striae' and research more about it. Using Vitamin E, cocoa butter, or other OTC remedies takes 6 months to a year to see results (.. or so I've heard). The fastest solution to removing them though is by dermatologic surgery via a laser. It's quite expensive, and I doubt your health insurance covers cosmetic problems/cases.

Dude - don't you have something BETTER to do at the gym than noticing other people's flaws or marks of pride (however you carry them) rather than focusing on YOUR work out. They are on someone else's body, who gives a crap? Jeezus, find something practical and productive to do.

Bitch bitch bitch, that's all you ever ARE...

I've got stretch marks on the upper part of my legs near the hip. I just think of it as a merit badge for the hard work in the gym. icon_cool.gif

I've got them all around my thighs, down my back, sides of my chest, inside of my armpits, around my biceps and triceps, and I have a small one on my left calf. icon_biggrin.gif

hmmm...I have never gotten them. I wonder if it just happens on certain types of skin.

I think that I remember someone telling me that a little good quality cider vinegar can help with small lines. It may help with stretch lines as well.

    Stretch Oil

The only time that I get lines is when I'm wearing a tank and I'm working out at an angle that is pulling my shirt. Sometimes it leaves lines from the shirt at the shoulder.

Well, what's your goal? Getting bigger? If yes... just take care of your skin, drink lots of water and apply vitamin E and Aloe Vera.

But if you are more concerned about stretch marks as signs of growing muscles... simply don't weight train. Just do endurance and circuit training with low weights.

Think of stretch-marks (in terms of muscle growth) as a growth ring like trees get when they grow.

But obviously you are more concerned about the stretch marks looking bad on you.. news flash, we all get stretch marks either from growth spurts during puberty (i have those on my back - looks like i was branded with a ladder along my spine) or weight training or simply getting fat. Hell, you are almost certain to get them at some point in your life because it's a fact of life.

No lotion or nutrient will totally prevent the inevitable so word to the wise; stop using the Calvin Klein catalog as your litmus test. Even those people have them... they just get theirs airbrushed into thin air.
