Wow, I saw this movie last night on Netflix. It was simply amazing. It's a Gay film, highly erotic and very disturbing.

One 5 star reviewer said ""Stranger by the Lake" is the sexiest and most elegant thriller in years, and it's a damn shame it stands so little chance of traveling beyond the niche of a "gay film" it will probably get squeezed into."

The things we do for love?????

There was a thread about this before, or at least it was a mention in a "Movies on Netflix."

The film addressed gay guys' supposed willingness to put physical perfection above friendship, kindness and compatibility-not to mention preservation of self.

So what if that adonis is a psychopath?

I saw that movie like 5 times. Really like it, it's like a murder suspense mystery dramatic film. I saw the interview with the Male Lead (Pierre Deslongchamps), they used a double for the naked scene. It's not him. Yeah, the movie is about one's desire to go out of your comfort *morality zone to *pursue love/Perfection. Try watching that 2 am in the morning. Freaking gave me chills. Reminded me of a lot of Hitchcock's films too.

None of you have mentioned that there is real (as opposed to simulated) gay sex in this film?

I loved this film. I usually find gay films to be incredibly disappointing. At first, I thought is was all about titillation, but it turned out to be so much more.

Saw it in the theater - wasn't a big fan. To me, the lead actor's sexual fixation on a guy he knew to be a dangerous killer just wasn't plausible. Yeah we all go against our better judgment from time to time for the sake of a good bang, but seriously, the guy in question wasn't all that hot or that sensuous, and didn't even go out of his way to lure the kid in.

Oh, and for the record - a "silurus" is a great big catfish. The sparse humor wouldn't have fallen near so flat if whoever did the subtitles was a little more on the ball about that.

Wow, I'm amazed at the positive comments. I thought this was terrible. I agree with the implausible comment. Yeah, let's go sleep with the guy we know is a murderer. icon_rolleyes.gif

I didn't get that movie. I was so surprised it was in fact on Netflix with the full frontal nudity. But hey, whatever rocks your boat.
