In case you wanted to cruise solo and not pay for an empty bed, soon you will have one more ship to do it on.

The RMS Queen Mary 2, Cunard's flagship which replaced the QE2 on the transatlantic run, will be drydocked in early summer 2016. Among the modifications will be 15 single staterooms.

Single cabins are a relative rarity on today's cruise ships, which have mostly cookie-cutter prefabricated staterooms that are mostly identical. QE2 did have some, though.

Other changes will include some additional balcony staterooms, an expansion to one of the restaurants, and improvements to the kennel. QM2 is one of the few ships that carries pets, and then only on transatlantic crossings.

Very cool! I knew there was a reason I'd put off my crossing!

I went during her maiden year, haven't seen the various mods that have been done since. We had two huge storms and I have it on good authority that I do not get seasick... if I was ever going to, it would have been on that crossing.
