Maybe he's in prison finding a new boyfriend to service.

Since he beat up Rihanna, why would anyone invite him to a Gay Pride event.

In a saner time and place he would have lost his career and become a social pariah never to be heard of again.

Dumb decision making, all around. Just flat-out dumb.

My hunch is the promoter "got got," and paid off somebody who pretended to be Breezy's "people" when he/she/they were decidedly not.

In no universe, however, does a promoter take someone with Brown's track record and have him present anybody at an event designed for women.

(*He was not scheduled to perform at this event, but merely to present Teyana Taylor, who opened for Brown at his own concert across town. Yet the promoters plastered him on the center of their ads to make it appear like he was going to do much more. "What. People Do. For Money...")

In no universe should a promoter have to convince Brown, of all people, that the female-to-male ratio on Black Gay Pride Weekend will be high enough that you can somehow grant him cover for his homophobia. "Just for the ladies!"

(Although, it appears to me that the flim-flammers who "represented" Brown to the promoters may have been using this "there's too many men there! his promo picture is too effeminate!" fluff as stalling tactics since they knew they couldn't deliver on Brown's appearance.)

In any case, way to go Fetty Wap for showing up in Brown's place. I doubt anyone that went for the rest of the performers really missed out on Breezy.

Years ago I heard he hates gay people, I wonder if his actions officially confirms it? icon_lol.gif

The article looks like a hit piece. I'm not a huge brown fan. I've chatted with him and he's nice enough. I don't believe the article is even remotely accurate

    I guess that's what you'd call dodging a bullet.

The story has now been updated. Brown has responded:

Circling the drain a bit more, here's the promoter on why she booked Chris Brown for a pro-lesbian event... and more specifically, why she didn't NOT book him.

    http://thegavoice.com/is-chris-brown-ready-to-make-nice/

Georgia VoiceOn Brown’s history of homophobia:

"I literally didn’t know that Chris Brown felt any way against gay people. I’m personally a fan of his music. I still like his music…can’t take the man’s sound away from him. I thought that caliber of artist is where my brand is at this time. The beauty of it is that their tour was in town the same night, so for me as a business person that meant I didn’t have to pay travel, so that’s why we booked Chris and Teyana Taylor because they were already going to be in town."

On Brown’s misogyny and abusive past:

"To be honest, I’ve gotten into trouble for fighting with my girlfriend before. That was twenty years ago when I was younger. I’d hope the world wouldn’t hold that against me. I don’t know him to have done that again. I literally didn’t consider that when booking him. I thought he was very talented. And with the level of my personal brand and the level of artists we bring he made sense."

On giving openly gay artists the opportunity to perform at future Traxx Girls events:

"For example, take Frank Ocean: I can’t afford him. He wants $100,000.00. In order for me to book him, I’d have to charge people $100 to get in. I can afford him personally but that’s not fair to my girls. Chris was reasonably priced. When you get to $100k it makes the door price way too much. Believe it or not, openly gay artists tend to be expensive. And once again, they still have to be at a certain level…and most openly gay artists I’ve already booked and I don’t like to do repeats."

Sounds to me like somebody is thinking too hard about their "brand" to hear themselves speak. A "brand" which isn't worth regurgitating any further here.

While TMZ reports all is now easy-peasy between Brown and the promoter, the latter suggests that, as of today, she hasn't received her booking fee back.

Georgia VoiceOn whether or not she regrets booking Brown:

"That’s the million-dollar question. I do not regret booking Chris Brown. I regret his behavior. You know, the gay community can buy concert tickets all day and worry about whether or not people are going to hate on us in this environment, etc. This was an opportunity for them to enjoy Chris Brown and Teyana Taylor in our own environment. All he had to do was show up and speak. All he had to do was introduce Teyana Taylor and keep it moving. Those ladies love Chris Brown’s music, they would have loved to have seen him. How dare he not show up? That’s so not cool."

Both sides have been working to resolve the deal-gone-badly through their attorneys.

“There’s supposed to be a refund," says Scott. "They’ve been talking as if there will be a refund as of last week. I’m still waiting."

I can't tell anyone how to manage their "brand." But if I risked booking a notorious performer like Brown (despite my own professed ignorance) and got burned in the process, I'd have pushed for my money back very quietly... without dirtying my so-called "brand" via open mudslinging in the press.

    http://www.tmz.com/2015/09/14/chris-brown-gay-pride-concert-atlanta

On Brown's end, while it appears his booking agency was indeed legit, as TMZ noted, "details of the performance (introducing Taylor, no singing) never got to Chris."

TMZ also reported the booking agent was upset that the promoter "used the wrong pic of Chris on the posters" (the one I have from the LGBT special-insert paper is blond-haired Chris front-and-center in front of a bevy of performers... the look he had back when he was jailed for assaulting Rihanna). He was featured upfront even though he was not required to sing a note or do a single dance... all he was to do was introduce Taylor.

The booking agency, allegedly for THIS reason (quibbling over the pic the promoter used), never bothered to tell Chris about the performance they booked for him. So whoever the booking agent was seems to me to be at least as unscrupulous as the other parties in this whole sordid matter.
