Well, I think the heading to this Forum really explains it all. When you go swimming in a pool or in the sea. What is your preference of swimwear? Do you like a tight fitting Speedo, a Spandex swim short, Spandex Jammer, or do you opt for a Board Short? I noticed last time I was on Holiday, the trend today is Board Shorts. There were guys in Speedo's, but very few. Thanks to the user for correcting me on the word 'Jammer' - Forum updated 12/09/2015

Speedos are definitely the best. Time for athletic, sexy guys to ditch the hideous, oversized board shorts. A muscular guy covering half his legs up in baggy, ugly board shorts is a real turnoff.

A muscular guy in board shorts is definitely NOT a turn-off!

It's when he takes em off and exposes about a yard of pasty white flesh - THAT'S a turn-off.

For swimming, if you have to wear something it's got to be a Speedo.

For general hanging out at the beach, board shorts.

For sunbathing, naked is the only way.

Only guys with a micro-penus would wear board shorts.

    -showers--square cut speedos

-growers--spandex but only if you're "intact".

If I'm around breeders, short, trim trunks. Around gays, Uzzi runner shorts.

it depends on the type of pool or beach outing and what type of people who are there so based on that I wear what I would consider appropriate. I have worn board shorts, square trunks and speedos depending on the when and where.

I prefer board shorts in the ocean, but in a pool it depends: if I'm just swimming laps I prefer swim trunks, but if I'm swimming for time, I wear thigh-length Speedos because they have less drag through the water.

It depends on the situation. I think the all-situation go to is a mid-thigh-length swim trunk:

Board shorts are heavy and stay wet for a long time, and I don't find them comfortable. I also dislike how they fall all the way to the knee. With shorter trunks you have better tan lines and they dry super fast.

Also, for the record, "spandex swim short" that people have been referring to is called a jammer:

They're what my high school swim team wore.

Got a weird compliment last week.

I forgot to pack a swimsuit so I went swimming in my underwear, blue cotton bikini-style (cheaper and more comfortable to train in than jockstraps, boxers or boxer-briefs).

Emerging from the sea back onto the boat the comment was:

    "Very Greg Louganis."

I am always in a speedo if I need a suit; nude if you can be nude. Less is more when it comes to the pool and beach. icon_cool.gif

Hmmm. I wear a classic cut trunk (mid-thigh). Looking at the pics I think I'm wearing my trunks too high, though. The top of them sits at the top of the Apollo's Belt furrow (hip bone). The guys in the pics have their trunks a couple of inches lower.

Speedo or trunks that are above the knee. By the way who's the dumbass that invented board shorts???!!! I wore them once and it felt I was wearing paints! Never again!!!

A lot of people know my preference is speedo (bikini) style. That's all I wore the past two years.

I can practically only swim laps in "swimming briefs" (speedo or other brands) or snug fit swim trunks. Anything loose fitting (trunks or broad shorts) just creates too much drag.

Thanks for the correction on the word 'Jammer'. Couldn't figure out what they were called. To me thigh length spandex short sounded correct.

I never got out of the late 70's 80's style square cut short trunks myself. Aussie Bum brought back some retro styles like them a few years ago. I don't swim.. but I get wet pretty good if I fall in.

Speedos and Briefs are underwear to me. Unless your a bodybuilder on stage.. then they make sense. But if in Austrailia.. when in Rome I guess.

Squared off tight fitting trunks (shorter than boxer briefs, but close to mid thigh) are perfect swimwear. They just make sense, enough to cover without offending, not enough to drag you under like a parachute in a under current. Stretchy spandex or anything that sheds water quickly to dry out is also nice. Cotton? ah.. no. Fair examples would be the kind the model Marcus Ricci often shows up in. But that does get confusing.. he whips out a speedo quite a bit too.

Boardshorts just seem like a fashion statement, like a parasol at the beach. Enough to make a statement, but not enough to provide any protection.. and just enough to leave really weird looking sunburn patterns, but I guess that explains the fascination the next generation has with ink.

My preference is for mid-thigh shorts, or a speedo when tanning on a secluded beach.

I think board shorts are great for really tall men, 6'1+. It balances out their very tall frame. They tend to overwhelm guys that are shorter, depending on their leg/torso proportions.

With the hipster trends hitting mainstream, I think you'll see a lot more guys rocking mid-thigh trunks. I think athletes and gay men will always be a lot more likely to rock something with spandex in it.
