"After taking a homemade clock to school, Irving MacArthur High student Ahmed Mohamed, 14, was taken in handcuffs to juvenile detention. Police say they may charge him with making a hoax bomb — though they acknowledge he told everyone who would listen that it’s a clock. "

Sounds like a set up. Who makes a clock? Back when I was in school during the Stone Age no one was making clocks for science protects, much less just for the Hell of it. Something smells fishy to me.

Only on RJ would a cut and dry case of racial profiling be met with such defensiveness. Looks like the terrorists have won.

You've gotta be trolling. Even in redneck Texas, the comments on the article are unanimous, but RJ, wow. Bin Laden is laughing at us all from his grave.

Yes, I think so. The article states:

But he [the kid's father] wasn’t paying much attention this summer when Irving Mayor Beth Van Duyne became a national celebrity in anti-Islamic circles, fueling rumors in speeches that the religious minority was plotting to usurp American laws.

However, the Council on American-Islamic Relations took note.

“This all raises a red flag for us: how Irving’s government entities are operating in the current climate,” said Alia Salem, who directs the council’s North Texas chapter and has spoken to lawyers about Ahmed’s arrest.

“We’re still investigating,” she said, “but it seems pretty egregious.”

Sounds like the Council on American-Islamic Relations set this up for publicity and possibly a way to increase donations.

I like one of the commenters said, "what happen if young steve jobs bring his apple prototype to school?"

"praise him up. But then again, he's White and Lutheran"

"it's only a crime to be good in science when you're a Muslim"

Yep, did a little internet searching. Seems the Council on American-Islamic Relations has a beef with government officials in Irving, TX. Definitely a set up to discredit officials.

You can't take things at face value, especially as reported in the news. News reporters and journalist nearly never ask the tough questions.

    2 possible explanations

1- the big bad Muslims conspired to hire a bunch of teachers and cops to act extra racist to a boy they hired to build a bomb-like clock and play along with said teachers/cops, with the confidence that a 14 year old won't tell anyone... or

2- what all the media reports are saying

and Undercoverman says it's "definitely" the first.

It's no wonder your avatar is a glory hole.

Everyone had a role to play in this farce and the Council on Islamic-American Relations knew the teachers, school officials, and police would play theirs perfectly. I maintain they were baited. And they stupidly took the bait. No one had to be hired or paid.

lol even if so, how is it a farce? It's like the gay couple who filmed their visit to Kim Davis' office "hoping" to get married. Yeah they knew what's gonna happen, and they probably got tons of support afterwards, but it doesn't legitimize the way they were treated.

For such a cut and dry case, even in the dark depths of online newspaper comments section I couldn't find one backasswards Texan redneck who would blame the victim. Are you channeling the homophobia you've suffered and paying it forward in racism or something? Studies show it's a thing among gay guys apparently lol

In light of new information, seeing photos of the "clock" and police account of him being way more talkative to media than with them, something does seem suspicious. Also, if he was completely innocent, and there isn't an unsavory backstory to this, there's no reason why he wouldn't stay at that same school and bask in his celeb status.
