    Horribly, Yes.
Luckily, my guy had two older brothers so he's less cluless to my 80's references. It was actually the opposite when it came to the "gay".
I had never seen "Mean Girls" or the "Heathers" ect...

Just because someone is younger than you does not make them culturally idiotic. I know a few men older than I am who are shallow and self centered. If my boyfriend LingLang spoke english I am sure I would be shocked at how culturally illiterate he is.

I'd be near as clueless as the kid about artifacts from my own generation. I navigate more so internally than from without. Outside of having what he's having, I wasn't even able to buy music until stores installed headphones to listen before purchase and then of course came the samplers on the internet and now youtube. Before all that, with few exception, I didn't even know the names of some of my favorites. I knew their work, just not who did it. I don't follow the baseball either. This is why I rarely ever post in the entertainment section.

Instead I became very good at listening when people around me are real into it, well, not really listening as much as nodding as if I know what you're talking about. This way people can talk to me about football or theater without me yawning because that would be rude and mom taught me better. Just don't quiz me on it. Cause I'll have no idea what you were talking about.

What some call being worldly I call temporal distraction. What some call culture, I call illusion. To each their own.

Mean Girls and Heathers are from two completely different generations. Or were you saying that you didn't know any gay pop culture references at all?

I kind of had this happen to me a week ago at the beach

I met some guy, with this large group of his friends that all parked themselves next to me, who looked like a very young Benny Andersson, with a man bun. I told him that finally, after he let his hair down, he had no idea who Benny Andersson is. Until I said ABBA icon_lol.gif

Then he was all happy icon_lol.gif

Lumpy, I don't believe that for a second. And I script PHP....

OTOH, when I met a cute 19 year old a few years ago, all I could think was "hey nineteen".
