Your home for lunch and flip on the TV and you come across ATWT (As the World Turns) and discover they have a gay theme going (Luke and Noah)... which of the following are you most likely to do:

    1) Turn off the soapbox... its just a dumb soap opera

    2) Watch to see if Luke or Noah are cute... or just to see what its all about.. then turn it off

    3) You might actually get interested in seeing it and how it develops over time...

Somebody turned me onto it a while ago and I have been hooked ever since. I don't watch soap operas (because I'm not a 35-year-old, overweight woman in Nebraska) but I'm glad that a storyline like this is finding its way into conservative households across the nation. Plus, Noah is hot as hell. Win-win situation.

The only bad thing about it is that Noah is going through what a lot of young men go through with homophobic parents, but the storyline of his dad being a killer just throws off young people who could actually take pointers from how Noah deals with his coming out. Oh well.

Well, if you are my nephew this past summer you DVR the entire past two years worth of shows, and all the recent ones and download them to my house central server.

Apparently, according to the log, he is still recording them even though he is away at college now.

I don't get it, he's a well set up 18 yo kid, smart, athletic, good looking...

    But SOAP OPERAS???

i admit to watching the dire 'brothers and sisters' just because it has gay characters.

    4) Do a Google search on Luke and Noah to see if they're cute, ogle some online pics if they are, and then forget about the whole thing.

I'm not TV-free, but I am satellite-free, and the only channel I get is Fox-15 in Ottumwa. For TV shows on other networks, I have to download the episodes from BitTorrent, and I don't do that unless I really want to see it (like the recent episode of South Park where Cartman fakes having Tourette's syndrome.)

Well I am pleased how they are dealing with the whole issue.. last summer (2006) the storyline dealt with Luke coming out to his parents and others.... Luke was mostly fine with it, but it was about watching others and how they would react.

I had thought that CBS and the writers might keep Luke around as the token "gay character" on the show without a storyline and almost "sexless", so I'm glad to see a storyline about another guy who finds "coming out" a challenge. There are many who can relate to Noah.

I watch it on Youtube, www.youtube.com and then search for user Blanenship2, he only posts the Noah/Luke stuff and I don't have to watch the other Drama.
