Ha, after the USOC pulled the brake on the Boston Bid, now LA is the official bid for the Summer Olympics 2024. OMG, love it, I think it will come down to Paris vs. LA vs. Rome. I really like the games to be back in SoCal, if not, I want to see Paris wins it, it'll be 100 yrs since the last games in the French Capital.

    Los Angeles CA
    Paris France
    Rome Italy
    Hamburg Germany
    Budapest Hungary

LA all the way. By 2024, the Metro extensions will be done. And we already have the venues built from the previous Olympics. Our weather is better too.

Will the extensions relieve that much traffic congestion? I was in LA last week and the traffic was awful. But then again, LA traffic is mild compared to D.C.

LA is without a doubt the worst American dirt bag city ever.

Why should Paris have the 2024 Olympics, they have enough fortune and fame and should lose in the first round of bids. I say let either Budapest, Hungary or Los Angeles, USA be the final competitors and may the best city win.

The extension will go all the way out to Santa Monica. They're also building a connection to LAX. Well, close to LAX. They're proposing a people mover thing for the final connection to the terminals.

People that hate LA either never lived there, or they just don't like Mexicans. icon_lol.gif

Remember the dire predictions for the 84 Olympics? Sure didn't happen. Folks pulled together and traffic was better than it was during normal times.

Even in the aftermath of the 1994 Northridge quake, folks again pulled together and it wasn't as bad as it could have been given the freeway issues we had with the the 10 on the west side in the Fairfax area.

They say mostly that Paris is able to welcome the olympics because most of the infrastructure exists already (Roland Garros, Stade de France, Palais omnisport de Bercy, etc), and just need to be renovated. Thus, organizing the games there will be less expensive than in other cities (which is what the committee wants).
