I know the lunge is a really good exercise for the legs. The problem is, everytime I do lunges I end up so sore and stiff I can hardly walk for a week. It doesn't matter if I perform the exercise holding only 20 lbs. dumbells. The ironic part is that I can leg press 180 lbs., but can never perform this simple exercise without getting hurt. icon_cry.gif

I get sore and stiff when I do lunges and good mornings too, but sounds to me like you need to do more on your leg press and feel sore after that too.

Golly, you must be doing them right.

Hang in. You'll be a real boy soon.

You can leg press 180? Wow. I leg press as much as 1230, although not in the past few months. Usually only around 780 for high rep work, like last leg workout.

It's pretty typical that you can leg press 3 times your body weight.

That pain is the feeling of weakness leaving your body.

    Hang in there.

I've been stuck on the couch for the past two days because I had a stoopud attack and did hard cardio immediately after banging on my legs so hard I could barely walk.

Hitting the legs hard tomorrow for the first time in five years because of an L4/L5 disc rupture. The doc says the rupture is dissolved so any discomfort I feel is musculoskeletal.

HRT has turned me into a gymbear again (thank god) and has added a solid 25 lbs since turkey day.

Legs have always been a strong point with me, so I know I'll need to take it easy and ease back into things, even though I'll want to hit the 1000 lbs leg presses again. I just have to remember it'll come back....with interest! icon_wink.gif

    Pray for me.... icon_biggrin.gif

Lunges rock! I hated them for the longest, but now they're one of my favorite exercises on my leg days. Don't give up on them just because they hurt. Try a good 30 minutes of stretching out your leg muscles the day after your leg workouts. That can help a lot with getting rid of the soreness you experience for such long periods. But damn you if you give up doing lunges. That's wimp talk. No wimping in the gym!

I didn't want to say it but now that chuckystud has, yeah, 180 is kind of a low weight to be doing on the leg press. I wonder what kind of leg press machine you're using. Is it one on which you load the plates yourself? Or is it one with a stack of plates and you put a "key" in to choose how much weight to lift?

It's great to hear yet another, of many, great story about AAS, and HRT. Way to go, and good luck.
