I've been a big fan of Pandora.com now for about 2 years.
It's a great way to get to hear my old favorites, learn more about similar music and all about the artists, the CDs, and the bands. Amazing place.

However, I've been wondering how I can 'train' the automatic player (mathematically-based, online radio station) to play more music that's new...like stuff that has come out after 2004.

    Any advice?

I've asked some friends and they are similarly clueless on this...thanks!

There's no easy way to do it. The algorithm doesn't work that way. You can try to edit your stations by adding more current bands, but then it will try to cross-reference the musical attributes from the current bands and the old bands. Then you'll wind up with some wacky music suggestions. You can always just create a different station and add modern bands only.

I really like Pandora. But some days, I just want to listen to a specific genre of music. Or listen to a specific decade of music. For those occasions, I use last.fm or slacker.com. The 'alternative 80s' station on slacker.com is my current favorite. Lots of good memories/tunes. icon_biggrin.gif
