articleWhether you sport a man bun (cool with us), a top knot (nope), or a man braid (heeeellllll no), all that pulling on your scalp could hurt your style in the long run. It's called traction alopecia, and it's hair loss that occurs after gentle pulling on the roots for weeks or months on end. It causes the roots to become inflamed and basically ditch the follicle like a bad boyfriend. Even worse, you might not even know this is happening until your after precious locks start falling out—like the universe's way of letting you know how stupid you look.

We need to use this information to figure out a way to get rid of unwanted hair.

For example, maybe I could hang little weights from the annoying hair that grows out of my nose and my ears.

Why aren't little girls with pony tails and buns and corn rows going bald?

Maybe it's a hormone thing? Higher levels of testosterone are associated with hair loss in men.

I'd rather see a bald guy than a man bun anyway. Problem is that a guy with a bun will probably just keep on doing it even as his hair thins. God I hate this trend.

I think a confident bald man with strength is very hot and masculine.

I mostly let my hair do what it wants. I was relieved to read ballcaps don't contribute to baldness (which I think I knew, because my grandfather wore them and he had great hair his whole life.

Many black women do suffer from this from frequent braiding. But with those styles the hair is pulled very tight. A sloppy man bun isn't going to cause alopecia.

This is akin to finding some "medical" reason that saggy pants are somehow a health concern. There's no need to use "science" to excoriate a style choice. Style choices die all by themselves.

I for one welcome the man bun. How else can I identify overt douchebaggery?

After reading this Forum, I got a serious headache. Not from reading the Forum, but from banging my head against the wall, saying, "Why, Why, do I read such crap?"

You're too young to remember the mullet. To me the mullet was the quintessential way of identifying yourself as having no taste (or brains). It was a favorite of the low brow trailer trash. Pray it never comes back.
